Former Manchester United star Ryan Giggs could not hide his admiration for Liverpool football club who he described as a “fantastic team”. He said though he pains him as a Manchester United fan that he was praising Liverpool, yet he could not help it than to admire how well the club has performed in two seasons.

Liverpool football club narrowly missed the chance of winning their first Premier League title in 30 years in the 2018-2019 season as they lost the title to Manchester City with just a point difference.

The club is at the verge of winning the title this season before the coronavirus pandemic halted the season. Before the season was suspended on March 13, Liverpool was leading the second-placed Manchester City with a whopping 25 points with 9 games left to play.

Just like the comment of Ryan Giggs, Liverpool has been so fantastic that the club only lost a match and drew once in 29 matches.

If the Premier League restart on June 17 as the clubs in the league have agreed, Liverpool will be seeking to claim the title by winning at least two matches.

“I think what we have seen this year is Liverpool are a fantastic team, managed by a great coach Jurgen Klopp and, it pains me to say it as a United fan, but they have been fantastic this season,” Giggs told Laureus.

“Obviously they’ll go on and, whatever way it is, they’ll win the league and deserve it. They’ve had two brilliant seasons actually, last year pushing Man City all the way.

“They’re a great team to watch. There were certain things that I’ve taken out of the way that Liverpool play, and taking it on to the way that I want to do with Wales.

“Hopefully United will bridge that gap and catch them up. But you have to give credit where credit is due and Liverpool have been fantastic this season.”

Ryan Giggs played for Manchester United for over 23 years before he was made the interim player-manager in 2014 after the sacking of David Moyes. When Louis van Gaal was appointed to replace Moyes, Giggs acted as Van Gaal’s assistant.

On 15 January 2018, Ryan Giggs was appointed as the manager of Wales national team. He succeeded Chris Coleman who left the team to coach Sunderland on November 2017. The Manchester United legend successfully led Wales to qualify for Euro 2020, following a 2–0 win over Hungary in their final encounter on 19 November 2019. His dream is to make Wales play like Liverpool football club.
