Manchester United legend and current coach of Wales national team Ryan Giggs has stressed that he could take Manchester United 20 years to win the Premier League again.

While explaining why it might take the club that long, Giggs cited the fact that if the coach of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, and that of Liverpool Jurgen Klopp, stay with their clubs longer, they would make it difficult for any other club to win the league.

In the last three seasons in the Premier League, the battle for the league title has always been between Liverpool football club and Manchester City. In the last three years, Manchester City won the league twice while Liverpool won the league once.

On the part of Manchester United, the club has been subjected to fight for Europa League and then the UEFA Champions League qualification. The Red Devils have suddenly found it impossible to contend for the league title despite their rich history in the league.

This season is looking like one of those seasons Manchester United will struggle to even qualify for next season Champions League. This means that they might not do well enough to contend for the title once again.

Currently, the season has been so tough for Manchester United that the club is currently sitting on the 15th spot of the league table after winning two games, drawing one, and losing two in 5 league matches.

On Sunday, October 31, at 17:30, the manager of the club, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will guide his men to play against Arsenal at Old Trafford. The hosts are expected to win the league game if they want to compete with the top clubs in the league this season.

“It could be 15, 20 years before you know it, especially if [Jurgen] Klopp and [Pep] Guardiola stick around”, Ryan Giggs told Greatest Game Podcast when asked how long it could take Manchester United to win the Premier League side.

“They have got the resources and the players so we have Liverpool to look at, where the last time when they won it in 1990. They thought ‘we’ll win it again soon.’

“Even Klopp, it took four-and-a-half years for him to win it – it takes a long time.

“He improved the team every season or won a trophy like the Champions League and then you saw the improvement so the pressure was off a little bit.

“Every manager and signing [for United] is seen as that ‘he will win us the league’ and it’s not like that.”

The last time Manchester United won the Premier League title was under the club’s legendary coach, Sir Alex Ferguson, during the 2012-2013 season. The 2012-2013 league title was Manchester United’s 20th league title in the history of the club.
