Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has criticised former Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino for his rigid training method.
Caicedo, who played under Graham Potter and Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton, claimed the two managers training methods were extremely better than those of Pochettino.
In his latest interview with Radio La Red, he said, “At Brighton, it was all tactical, just with the ball; tactical, tactical, tactical. And at Chelsea, it was run, run, run, and it was very difficult for me.”
“With Chelsea, I always ran a bit more, and with Brighton, we almost always had the ball; with Chelsea, it was a different football, and we had to run more.”
He added saying, “Since February, my agent has hired a person who reviews my matches, what I have to improve, how to position myself, and mentally. It’s helped take pressure off me because I was thinking more about ‘they paid a lot of money for me; I have to perform well.”
“I wasn’t focused, not showing my level; after my agent hired that person, I started to improve and gain more confidence.”
Chelsea sacked Mauricio Pochettino even though he led the club to a sixth-place finish in the Premier League. Pochettino became Chelsea manager in July 2023.
Moises Caicedo was one of the 12 major signings in the summer of last season for the Chelsea side.
The Ecuadorian arrived at Chelsea for a British record fee worth £115 million after spending two and a half years with Brighton.
He made 48 appearances for Chelsea in the 2023-24 season. Caicedo made 91 tackles in the Premier League last season, more than any of his teammates.
he was one of the three players in the Chelsea squad to have made more than 2,000 passes last season.
Moises Caicedo will become a totally different player under the new manager, Enzo Maresca.
The former Leicester City manager is capable of tactically making Chelsea a team challenging for the Premier League title next season.
Caicedo will retained his place in the Chelsea starting XI alongside Enzo Fernandez and the club’s new signing, Kieran Dewsbury-Hall.
