Roy Keane has made his verdict on Manchester United’s performance against Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League matchday 2.
The Man United legend attacked the Red Devils players and brutally insult Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford after Saturday’s loss to Tottenham.
Anthony Martial, the French International player has merely had any influence at Old Trafford for a few years now, and Roy Keane described introducing him off the bench as bringing on past players like Norman Whiteside.
Roy Keane also speculates that Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount looked like schoolboys during United’s clash against Tottenham on Saturday, 19th of August.
After starting the new season on a high note by defeating Wolves 1-0 at Old Trafford last Monday night, The Red Devils were fortunate to win the match thanks to a goal from Raphael Varane.
Over the entire 90 minutes, United struggled to create many clear-cut chances and did just enough to secure the victory.
However, things were not the same when United flew to London to make it two victories in a row.
Pape Matar Sarr gave Spurs the lead early in the second half, and Lisandro Martinez’s own goal with seven minutes left gave Postecoglou his first victory.
Meanwhile, United came close to scoring, with Fernandes missing the greatest opportunity of the opening game when he steered his free header from six yards out wide of the goal.
Keane, meanwhile, was enraged by the United players who lost control and believes Erik ten Hag’s attackers provided absolutely nothing in terms of defensive effort.
Then, Keane targeted Anthony Martial, who Ten Hag had brought off the bench late in the game, and Marcus Rashford, who struggled against Spurs.
Rashford was compelled to begin the new season in his less preferred central attacking role due to the injury to new recruit Rasmus Hojlund and the lack of investment in another new striker.
Rashford had brief moments of promise in the first half, but like the rest of his teammates, he lost steam after the break, much to Keane’s displeasure.
Furthermore, United’s midfielders and strikers need to perform better according to Keane.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Roy Keane said: “You’re bringing on Anthony Martial and these players you might as well bring on Frank Stapleton and Norman Whiteside”.
“Rashford played through the middle again. Usual stuff, he’s like a child up there, his body language and first few touches suggest he doesn’t want to play in the middle”.
He added: “But you have to. You’ve got to do a job for the team. You’re looking at the captain, the senior players, and established International players easy to play against. That’s the biggest insult I can give to these Man United players”.
What’s next for Manchester United?
The Red Devils will host Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Saturday, 26th of August, in the English Premier League as Erik ten Hag and his team will be looking forward to going back to winning ways.
