Ross Barkley was left out as Chelsea confirmed new squad numbers for their players ahead of the 2022-2023 Premier League.
The Blues are bracing for the upcoming 2022-2023 Premier League campaign as the league kicks off, with Arsenal opening the season with a clash with Crystal Palace on August 5.
Chelsea will battle Merseyside Everton in their opening fixture, while Manchester United and Manchester City tackle Brighton and West Ham, respectively.
From the list of new squad numbers assigned to players by Chelsea, former Everton and England star Ross Barkley top the list of players without squad numbers. This is a clear message to the player that the new Chelsea owner, Todd Boehly in charge of the Blues’ transfer decision, no longer fancies his service at the club, although he still trains with the first team.
