Cristiano Ronaldo might end up returning to the Premier League this summer if Manchester City and Juventus can reach a compromise over the future of the 36-year-old Portuguese striker.

Futballnews confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo has not officially told Juventus that he wants to leave the Italian Serie A giants. However, the football star is reportedly willing to exit if the right offer comes.

The Portuguese football star who joined Juventus in 2018 from Real Madrid for €117 million, still has less than a season left on his contract with the Italian club.

Reports claimed that Juventus are ready to let Ronaldo go in an attempt to save the £500,000-per-week wages they pay him plus tax. However, the club do not want him to go for free this summer.

They are willing to sell him to any club that are willing to pay at least €25 million for the services of the 36-year-old Portuguese forward.

In the same vein, Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes has been looking for a club that would pay up Juventus’ asking price for the services of Ronaldo. Any club that is willing to do that must be willing to take on the £500,000-per-week wage the football star currently earns at Juventus.

Reports claimed that Mendes had offered Manchester City the chance to sign the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner and the Premier League club are seriously considering the offer.

Manchester City have been looking for a striker throughout this summer transfer window. They attempted to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur but the London-based club rejected their £100 million bid.

On Wednesday, August 25, Harry Kane announced that he would not leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer which means that Man City are left to look for an alternative striker to sign.

The biggest alternative in the transfer market seems to be Cristiano Ronaldo of Juventus who is not ready to remain in Italy this season.

The biggest problem is that Manchester City are not willing to pay Juventus any transfer fee. They are not also willing to pay Ronaldo the kind of wages he currently earns at Juventus.

According to a report by Sky in Italy, Manchester City are willing to offer Ronaldo a two-year deal. The deal would earn the footballer only €15 million per season which is less than half of what he currently earns in Italy.

If Juventus agree to allow Ronaldo to go for free this summer and the Portuguese football icon is ready to settle for less than half of his current wages, he would stage a return to the Premier League.

Recall that Ronaldo played for Manchester United in the Premier League between 2003 and 2009. In his six years at United, Ronaldo made 292 appearances in which he scored 118 goals and provided 69 assists.

Though he is 36-year-old now which means he can not perform on the pitch as much as he did between 2003 and 2019, he might be a fair signing for Manchester City in terms of the media attention it might generate and sales of jerseys.
