The future of Ronald Koeman at FC Barcelona has continued to remain uncertain despite helping the club to win the 2020-2021 Copa del Rey.
It seems Barcelona did not appoint him to just win the Copa del Rey title for the club but to compete for every title the club was involved in until the very last minute.
Unfortunately for Ronald Koeman who is a respected former player of FC Barcelona, his first season (2020-2021) at the club as a football manager was not as smooth as expected.
Aside from not winning the Supercopa de España, and the La Liga, Paris Saint Germain disgraced Barcelona out of the UEFA Champions League in the round of 16.
It is was so tough for Barcelona that they recorded 7 defeats, 7 draws, and just 24 wins in 38 games to finish 3rd on the league table with 79 points, 7 points away from first placed Atletico Madrid.
Despite such a performance, the new president of the club, Joan Laporta announced that the coach deserves more respect from his critics and that the club was in talks with him concerning his future at the club.
Earlier in May after the end of the La Liga season, Ronald Koeman and his agent, Rob Jansen visited Barca president to discuss the future of the 58-year-old Dutch tactician but they were not able to reach a compromise.
At the end of the day, Joan Laporta said in a press conference that the club was “re-evaluating” the performance of the coach. On the other hand, reports in Spain claimed that Barcelona were considering other options while they continue to have talks with Ronald Koeman and his representative, the Wasserman agency represented by Jansen.
The aspect that infuriated Koeman and his representative was when the Barca president claimed that the coach was admitted to a hospital in Spain earlier this week.
Contrary to the assertion of Barca president, the representative of Koeman said the coach was not admitted, he only went to a hospital for routine medical check-ups.
Koeman’s representative said: “The words of FC Barcelona’s president Joan Laporta during a press conference today [Friday, May 28] about Ronald Koeman’s anxiety attack are overdone.
“Ronald has been to the hospital for blood pressure checks, a routine check for people with his medical history.
“We regret the way it got into the media. Ronald is fine, there is nothing to worry about.”
To prove he was fine, Ronald Koeman took to his Twitter page to share a picture of himself declaring that he was fine. “Don’t believe anything you hear. I am healthy, that’s all that matters in life”, he tweeted.

To describe how Barcelona has been treating coach Ronald Koeman who still has a season left on this contract with the Spanish giants, his agent, Rob Jansen tweeted: “Imagine: I want to marry you, but I have doubts. Give me two weeks to find a better partner. If I can’t find the right person, we will get married anyway!”

At the time of publishing this report, Ronald Koeman was yet to know his fate as far as his contract with FC Barcelona is concerned. Reports claimed that he has returned to the Netherlands for a break before the pre-season commences.
