The West London club Chelsea signed Romelu Lukaku in what was his second time with the club on a £97.5million transfer from Inter Milan last season. However, the Belgium striker has returned to Inter Milan after spending just a few months with the Blues.

Romelu Lukaku struggled during his second spell with Chelsea which was the main reason he decided to leave them for Inter Milan again on loan.

The 29-year-old ended last season with just eight English Premier League goals. Amid the inconsistent form, he granted a controversial interview for an Italian press last December in which he annoyed everyone at Chelsea.

Speaking during the interview, Lukaku insisted that he was not happy at the club. This brought about a lot of criticism from Chelsea supporters, leaving no surprise when he decided to return to Italy this summer.

Romelu Lukaku has been entertaining questions from Italian journalists since his return, stating that he regretted leaving Inter Milan 11 months ago.

Note that the Belgian had a good time with the Italian giants during his first spell. Lukaku left the club with 64 goals in 95 games under current Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte and was among the players who helped Inter to win the Serie A title in the 2020/21 season.

In one of his recent interviews in Italy, Lukaku took a dig at Chelsea again. While speaking during an event with his Inter Milan teammate Nicolo Barella, Lukaku said: “The biggest challenge of my career will be this season here. I left. It was a mistake, right Nico? Now I am happy to be wearing this jersey, the team knows what we need to do, it’ll be a great challenge this season and we need to continue like this.

Lukaku added that the club’s profile is improving – not only in Italy but across the world and the club now has a good social media approach which is important.

According to the Belgium striker, Milan is a good city and he had to keep his old apartment in the city because his mum was always visiting there and he wanted to return too.

Romelu Lukaku then aimed a jab at his former teammates at Chelsea by saying that nobody talks badly about anyone else at Inter Milan. However, he didn’t mention the name of any Chelsea player but the comments are likely to be for Chelsea’s players because he just left them a few weeks ago.

Chelsea’s current manager Thomas Tuchel has also left the door open for the Belgium striker to return after his loan deal. He said that there’s a chance for Lukaku to come back because he’s on loan and not a permanent deal.
