Romelu Lukaku is yet to officially settle his dispute with coach Thomas Tuchel and the Chelsea football club as a whole after telling the world how unhappy he is at the club.

Last summer, Chelsea showed the world how desperate they were to get a more proven striker by paying Inter Milan almost £100 million for the services of Romelu Lukaku. Unfortunately for the Premier League club, they have not gotten the kind of value they thought they would get for signing the Belgian striker.

The club is still struggling to score goals and win as convincingly as they should despite the arrival of Lukaku at the club. To the dismay of many, Lukaku decided to tell Sky Sports in Italy that he would return to Inter Milan soon, adding that Chelsea’s coach Thomas Tuchel chose “to play with another system” which he is not happy with.

“I won’t give up, I’ll be professional. I am not happy with the situation but I am professional – and I can’t give up now”, the Belgian striker added.

These comments forced coach Tuchel to drop him ahead of the Premier League game between Liverpool and Chelsea on Sunday, January 2, 2021. After the match which ended in a 2-2 draw, coach Tuchel confirmed that he would meet with Romelu Lukaku on Monday, January 3, to discuss the player’s comment.

“Tomorrow [Monday, January 3, 2022] there is a meeting and we will decide,” Tuchel told BBC Radio 5 Live. “Monday we discuss and we all meet and we will make a decision.”

Despite Lukaku’s attack on coach Tuchel’s style of coaching, the German tactician insisted that the 28-year-old Belgian striker is still a part of his squad.

“He is our player, there is always a way back”, coach Tuchel added.

“We will clear this behind closed doors and once we have made a decision and Romelu knows, you will maybe know also. It is not to be discussed now.”

There are reports in the press that Romelu Lukaku might push Chelsea to loan him to Tottenham Hotspur to reunite with coach Antonio Conte. Recall that The Belgian striker flourished massively under Conte during the 2020-2021 season at Inter Milan.

The partnership between him and the coach helped Inter Milan to win the 2020-2021 Serie A title. Unfortunately, Conte decided to resign at the end of the season and joined Tottenham Hotspur months later. On the other hand, Lukaku decided to return to Chelsea, a club he couldn’t establish himself at between 2011 and 2014.

Hence, since he is now in a problem at Chelsea, he intends to reunite with Conte at Tottenham just like he paired up with the coach at Inter Milan in 2019 when things were hard for him at Manchester United.

However, Chelsea might not want to send their most expensive player on loan to a rival club this January. Coach Tuchel might want to punish him for his comments by benching him a little longer; offloading him might not be in the coach’s plans for now.

While reacting to the controversy Lukaku is facing at Chelsea, coach Conte said: “Romelu is a player from another team.

“You know the affection I have for him but I am not talking about players from other teams even though I have a great deal of affection for him and that will always be there.”

When coach Thomas Tuchel decided to drop Romelu Lukaku ahead of the game against Liverpool on Sunday, the Belgian striker decided to change his bio on Facebook to former his club’s name, Inter Milan.

However, he has not changed his display picture and his cover photo on the social media platform which could mean that his heart might be at Inter Milan, his body is still at Chelsea.

The football star has deactivated his official Twitter page since November without any known reason.

Since his big-money return to Stamford Bridge last summer, Lukaku has scored 7 goals and provided 2 assists in 18 games in all competitions. His deal with Chelsea will expire on June 30, 2026.
