Romelu Lukaku journey to Inter Milan

Romelu Lukaku started his football career at age 16 at Belgian Pro League club Anderlecht. After establishing himself at the club, he accepted a bigger challenge by joining Chelsea in 2011. Unfortunately for the Belgian, he was not able to establish himself at the club as he was sent on loan to West Bromwich Albion and Everton. He was finally able to make his name at Everton and then decided to settle at the club in 2014.

After scoring 87 goals in 166 games for Everton, he decided to take up a bigger challenge by joining Manchester United in 2017 for an initial fee of £75 million. Despite scoring 42 goals in 96 appearances for Manchester United, the two seasons he spent at Old Trafford were characterized by issues especially between him and the manager of the club, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Therefore, Lukaku had no choice than to leave the Premier League club in 2019 and joined Inter Milan for a transfer deal reportedly worth €74 million.

Romelu Lukaku’s deal with Inter Milan

Romelu Lukaku’s deal with Inter Milan was signed on 8 August 2019. According to reports, the deal which would expire on 30 June 2020, reportedly earns the Belgium international £300,000-per-week.

More so, the five-year-deal has made the former Manchester United and Everton forward the most expensive player in Inter Milan’s history. It has also made him the highest-earning footballer at the Italian Serie A club.

In his second and last season (2018-2019) at the club, he scored a total of 15 goals in all competitions for United which was his worst season in the last 4 years.

However, the Belgium international has been having the best of his career at Inter Milan despite being his first season in Serie A. In the league alone, Lukaku has scored 23 goals and made 2 assists in 36 appearances.

This means that the football star who played a total of 2984 minutes of football in the league this season scored an average of 0.69 goals for every 90 minutes that he spent on the pitch.

This has made him the 11th best goalscorer in Serie A in terms of average goal scored per 90 minutes of football out of 454 Serie A Players who played at least 3 matches in the league. It has also made him the highest goalscorer at Inter Milan in the just concluded 2019-2020 season.
