Romelu Lukaku may not join Juventus this summer as fans invade the pitch at the Allianz Stadium to protest against his signing.
The Belgian international signed for Inter Milan in 2019 and went on to score 64 goals in 95 matches, while helping them win the Serie A title under Antonio Conte.
Romelu Lukaku returned on loan to Inter last season after a poor second spell at Chelsea, who had paid a massive £97.5 million fee to sign him two seasons ago.
However, Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Lukaku is not part of his plans and Juventus wanted to use that chance to sign him from Stamford Bridge.
Juventus fans in their 8-0 win against their reserve side on Wednesday, protested the deal as they stormed the pitch chanting “Don’t sign Lukaku!”.
A group called Curva Sud unveiled a banner with a message that read, “Lukaku stay in Milan, we already have a second goalkeeper.”
That particular comment was in reference to him blocking Federico Dimarco’s goal-bound effort in the Champions League final – which Inter lost to Manchester City.
However, anti-Lukaku chants have already started in the stands before a large number of fans made their way onto the playing surface and led to stewards forming a shield near the tunnel.
Transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, in his latest news on Romelu Lukaku stated that Chelsea have “no intention” of doing a deal whereby Vlahovic is used as an addition.
Lukaku was recently approached by one Inter Milan fan who told him not to ever say ‘Forza Juventus” if he signs for the Turin outfit.
However, in response to that and confirmation that the deal will not go through, Romelu Lukaku replied: “No no never. I don’t think the deal will go through.”
Romelu Lukaku
Romelu Lukaku Bolingoli is a Belgian footballer who was born on 13 May 1993 and plays as a striker for Inter Milan, on loan from Chelsea, and the Belgium national team.
Lukaku returned to Chelsea in a club-record transfer worth £97.5 million (€115 million) in 2021, making him the seventh-most expensive player, and the most expensive Belgian player.
Internationally, Romelu Lukaku is Belgium’s all-time top goalscorer, and after making his debut in 2010, he has represented his country at five major tournaments.
He has played for Belgium in the 2016 and 2020 UEFA European Championships and the 2014, 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups; he finished as joint second-highest goalscorer to win the Bronze Boot in 2018.
How Does Inter Milan Feel About Lukaku?
Javier Zanetti, Inter legend and Vice President, claimed that the Belgian international ‘betrayed’ the club in his stinging remarks.
Zanetti, who featured in 858 matches for Inter, laid into the forward for what he called an unprofessional conduct.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, he said “Lukaku has betrayed us.”
“We’re very disappointed. We expected completely different behaviour by Romelu Lukaku, as professional but also as a man.”
Zanetti’s outburst follows that of Lukaku’s former teammate Lautaro Martinez, who revealed that the Belgian stopped answering his calls during a pivotal point of negotiations with Inter.
“I was disappointed, it’s the truth,” he said to the Italian outlet last month. “I also tried to call him in those days of chaos, he never answered me, the same he did with my other companions.”
“After so many years together, after so many things lived together, I was disappointed.”
“Thankfully, it’s his choice. I wish him the best. But I didn’t expect this attitude.”
So at the moment, Inter Milan are pissed off with Romelu Lukaku and Juventus fans have shown they do not want him either.
And the Belgian doesn’t want to move to Saudi Arabia Pro League; the question now is, where will Lukaku play next season??
