The outgoing owner of Chelsea, Roman Abramovich, has reportedly received several bids worth about £3billion for the sale of Chelsea.

Recall that last weekend, Abramovich confirmed his willingness to sell Chelsea. The Russian billionaire placed a three billion pounds price tag on the club.

Abramovich had to let Chelsea go due to the pressure he and the club have been subjected to since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine from February 24 to date.

In his announcement, Roman Abramovich who has invested over one billion pounds in the club said he decided to sell the club in the interest of the club and the club’s partners.

So far, names like Hansjorg Wyss, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Todd Boehly, and Conor McGregor have been in the spotlight as potential buyers of the club.

However, British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe has debunked the report that he was interested in buying Chelsea. Ratcliffe who is said to be worth £20billion is said to be the richest man in the United Kingdom.

The 69-year-old businessman is currently the owner of French side OGC Nice which he wants to concentrate on according to his spokesperson via Reuters.

“There is no substance to the stories”, the spokesperson said.

“Right now his focus is on OGC Nice which made it to the final of the French Cup to be played in Paris at the beginning of May”.

Now that Ratcliffe has ruled himself out of the deal, Roman Abramovich’s team supervising the sales will limit its review on the bids that have been submitted.

PA news agency claimed that a series of individuals have shown interest in buying the Premier League side which is currently the reigning champions of Europe and the world.

The co-owner of Newcastle United, Amanda Staveley has revealed that it was not fair how Roman Abramovich was pressured to sell Chelsea due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Recall that Staveley was part of the Saudi-Arabian-backed consortium that bought Newcastle United for £300 million in 2021.

While speaking at the Financial Times Business of Football Summit, the 48-year-old British executive said: “We are always going to have geopolitical issues

“This world is never going to not have problems, and I know it is really hard and I am really sad today that someone [Roman Abramovich] is going to have a football club [Chelsea] taken away because of a relationship they may have with someone [Russia President Vladimir Putin]”, Staveley added. “I do not think that is particularly fair, actually, to be honest.

“But I also think that we have to hold all of our relationships to account. And I think that we have also got to remember with Saudi [Arabia] that it is an incredibly big, important country that I love. I love the people there. It is a young, vibrant population and I have seen Saudi [Arabia] change so much.

“And I am not talking now as [from a perspective of] Newcastle, I am talking like me. So these are my thoughts because I have really got to know a lot of people, and I am excited that… I would rather everybody look and get excited about football than being involved in the war.”
