In preparation for life back among the big boys in the Premier League, Leeds United is adding a couple of new signings to their Championship-winning squad and the latest of which is to be Valencia’s Rodrigo.

Patrick Bamford was Leeds’ top scorer in the league last season with 16 goals but he showed a wasteful side to his game by missing 33 big chances. Marcelo Bielsa will surely know that his side may not get that many opportunities in English football’s top-tier so clinicality on front of goal will be crucial. Rodrigo’s move to Elland Road has been confirmed by his former club. In a statement released by the Spanish giants, they said:

“Valencia CF have reached a preliminary agreement with Leeds United FC this Tuesday for the transfer of footballer Rodrigo Moreno, at the expense of completing all the documentation and other formalities and passing the mandatory medical examination. Valencia CF wants to thank him for his commitment and effort over the last six seasons – in which he has played a total of 220 games, scored 59 goals, and helped to win a Cup title. Valencia CF wishes him all the best in this new stage of his sports career.”

The Spaniard has become the latest casualty of a selling spree that’s currently going on at the Mestalla. He joins Dani Parejo, Francis Coquelin and Ferran Torres as the latest departures from Valencia this summer. More exits are still expected with Gaya looking like the only guaranteed exemption. Rodrigo becomes Leeds’ sixth signing of the window as the club has already made signings of Helder Costa, Illan Meslier, Joe Gelhardt and Cody Drameh signing permanent deals while Manchester City winger Jack Harrison has returned to the club on loan.

With the great strides already made in the transfer market by Marcelo Bielsa’s men, they could follow in the footsteps of Wolves and Sheffield as newly-promoted teams who surpassed expectations in their debut seasons.
