According to reports, Liverpool and Brazilian attacker Roberto Firmino has consented to join Barcelona next summer.

The contract of the Brazilian at Liverpool comes to an end at the expiration of the season and it was established last month that Firmino would exit Liverpool after eight years at Anfield.

And according to the Daily Mail, the former Hoffenheim attacker has now agreed to join the Spanish giants on a free transfer in the summer.

He had in the past been rumored with a possible move to AS Roma and Real Madrid but reports indicate the 31-year-old would join the financially handicapped Barcelona when his contract at Liverpool comes to an end at the expiration of the campaign.

The Brazilian joined Liverpool in 2015

Roberto Firmino arrived Liverpool in a £29 million deal from German side Hoffenheim in 2015 and during his time at Anfield, he has assisted the club to Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup and Club World Cup triumphs.

Roberto Firmino was amongst the fiery trio of Liverpool in addition to Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane that wreaked havoc on several oppositions.

The game time of Roberto Firmino has dropped drastically

In recent times, especially this season, Roberto Firmino has seen his number of appearances reduced as Jurgen Klopp continues to make a holistic change on his ageing team.

The incomings of Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo means he has started only 12 games in the English Premier League this campaign.

A hamstring injury implies Firmino is supposedly set to be unavailable for Liverpool in the next three games, but the Reds are hopeful that he can make a comeback before the season comes to an end.

The manager of Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp, was said to have wanted the Brazilian to further his stay at Anfield, but the forward is focused on seeking a fresh challenge.

Roberto Firmino has made 360 appearances for Liverpool so far and he has netted 109 goals in addition to providing 79 assists.

Firmino’s side, Liverpool play Nottingham Forest on Saturday as they continue to chase a position in the top four.

They smashed Leeds United 6-1 on Monday at Elland road and they would want to continue in that domineering fashion despite their wishy-washy state throughout the campaign.

The last encounter between Liverpool and the tricky trees of Nottingham ended in a slim defeat for Liverpool at the City Ground.

Taiwo Awoniyi netted the deciding goal in the last outing between the two sides

Nigerian International Taiwo Awoniyi netted in the 55th minute to hand Steve Cooper’s side a victory against the Reds last October.

Liverpool are 9 points away from the top 4 and it looks increasingly unlikely that they would end up in the UEFA Champions League spot for next season but another victory in the Premier League could help better their possibility of reaching the top 4.

They have endured a torrid campaign in the English Premier League by their standards as they have won only 13 games, lost 9 and drawn 8 in the league this term.
