Robert Lewandowski has overtaken top Barcelona legends with the most number of goals after their 100th game for the club.

The Poland international contributed a goal as Barcelona saw off Real Valladolid with a thumping 7-0 victory at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

Robert Lewandowski in Barcelona

He blanked in Barcelona’s 4-1 mauling of Girona away from home in their last match but his four-goal tally this season has seen him go clear of other legendary Barcelona players with most goals after a centurion of games.

Robert Lewandowski ahead of Lionel Messi, Thierry Henry, and Neymar on the chart

After Barcelona lost the 2023-24 La Liga title to rivals, Real Madrid, Robert Lewandowski bore a part of the blame for his diminished goal output for the team compared to his debut season with the club.

He scored 19 La Liga goals, four less than the 2022-23 tally. However, the latest statistics have shown the Poland international is already a Barcelona legend in the making. The statistics, which show Barcelona players with the most goals in their first 100 games, indicate Robert Lewandowski is third on the ladder.

The former Bayern Munich forward has 68 goals, overtaking some of the biggest footballers in Barcelona’s Hall of Fame such as Neymar Jr, Lionel Messi, and Thierry Henry.

Neymar Jr, who left Barcelona for PSG in 2017, is ranked fourth on the chart with 58 goals – five goals less than Robert Lewandowski’s – after his 100th game for the club.

Another legendary name in Barcelona’s annals, who has been overtaken by Robert Lewandowski is Thierry Henry. Henry belonged to the legendary Barcelona era who dominated La Liga and Europe in 2008. The French former footballer-turned-manager played for Barcelona from 2007 to 2010, scoring 35 La Liga goals in 80 games.

He won the La Liga back-to-back in 2009 and 2010 and was part of the legendary squad that won the 2009 UEFA Champions League. Henry is ranked 5th on the chart with 46 goals after his 100th game.

Lionel Messi rocks bottom with 41 goals in 100 games

Lionel Messi is shockingly rocking the bottom of the chart with 41 goals from his first 100 games. Messi remains the biggest Barcelona player ever. He is an undisputed playmaker par excellence but it appears the Argentine’s luck didn’t shine through in front of goals during the early days of this career.

Robert Lewandowski has 22 goals more than the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner in his first 100 games for Barcelona. While Messi apparently struggled in front of goals compared to others on the chart, the former PSG attacker later rose to his best to become the club’s all-time top scorer with 778 goals.

Robert Lewandowski is only behind Luis Suarez and Samuel Eto’o on the chart

Notably, Lionel Messi’s current teammate at Inter Miami, Luis Suarez, who recently called time on his international career, is leading the list of Barcelona legends with the most goals in their first 100 matches for the club.

Suarez scored an astonishing 88 goals in his first 100 games for Barcelona. He is distantly followed by current Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) president Samuel Eto’o. Eto’o had 68 goals, 20 less than Suarez. Only these two names have a better goal tally on the chart than Robert Lewandowski.

Other Barcelona players with the most goals in their first 100 games

Apart from Robert Lewandowski and the aforementioned, other names in the top 10 list include Pedro, Ronaldinho, David Villa, and Patrick Kluivert.

Patrick Kluivert is ranked 5th on the chart behind Neymar, Robert Lewandowski, Eto’o, and Luis Suarez. The former Newcastle United forward won 1998-99 La Liga with Barcelona and scored 52 goals in his first 100 appearances for the club. In all competitions, Kluivert tallied 122 goals in 252 appearances for Barcelona.

Pedro, who is currently plying his trade with Lazio in Serie A is 9th on the chart with 41 goals – the same tally as Lionel Messi. Pedro’s career peaked at Barcelona where he spent seven seasons from 2008 to 2015. He tallied 58 La Liga goals in 204 appearances.

Brazil football legend Ronaldinho is ranked 7th on the chart with 44 goals. The former Fluminese forward, who called time on his career in 2015, banged in 70 La Liga goals in 146 appearances. Ronaldinho won two La Liga titles and the 2006 Champions League with the club before leaving for AC Milan in 2008.

David Villa is ranked 8th on the chart with 42 goals in his 100 games for Barcelona. Villa had his best career chapter with Valencia, where he scored 108 La Liga goals in 166 appearances. He spent only three seasons at Barcelona but was able to muster as many goals in his 100th appearance.
