Robert Lewandowski of Barcelona has equaled the all-time goal record of Eden Hazard of Real Madrid after scoring two goals against Real Valladolid on August 28, 2022.
The Polish striker has scored four goals already with three matches played this season, compared to Hazard’s 50 matches and four goals in La Liga.
Aside from the goals, other statistics show that Robert Lewandowski has already had a successful season when compared to Hazard’s La Liga career. Lewandowski already has seven shots on target compared to Hazard’s zero.
The Polish striker made 82 passes and nine passes into the box. Hazard has only completed 26 passes this season, with none of them going into the 18-yard box.
That is a poor stat for a creative winger who was signed for a huge fee. In terms of defense, Lewandowski has also been a better player, with seven tackles and one pass interception.
Hazard has contributed little to Real Madrid’s defense, making only one tackle so far this season.
Lewandowski has created nine big chances for his teammates, but Hazard has one, which came against Celta De Vigo.
Lewandowski’s performances for Barcelona have been exceptional, with better positionings and a greater vision of goals. He is already making history at his new club.
Lewandowski is the oldest player to score three goals in three matches in La Liga in the 21st century, beating Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s record.
Lewandowski is also the first player to score four goals in three consecutive La Liga matches since Radamel Falcao for Atletico Madrid in 2012.
The striker seemed to flourish under the Barcelona manager, Xavi, because of the services of Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha on the left and right wings.
He has been tipped to finish above Karim Benzema of Real Madrid in the La Liga top scorers’ table.
Eden Hazard’s La Liga career has been plowed back due to consistent injuries. He has only scored six goals in all competition for the Blancos for over three full seasons.
Real Madrid failed to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, and they thought Hazard would be a better replacement. The winger came to Real Madrid looking promising but has failed to live up to expectations.
The Belgian has also failed to score in the Champions League for three years. Carlo Ancelotti has stated numerous times that Hazard is part of his plans, but Vinicius Jr’s consistency has made him a bench warmer.
Real Madrid paid €115 million to sign him from Chelsea, but he was regarded as the worst transfer in La Liga history.
In the coming days, Real Madrid are likely to put Hazard on their transfer list, but no club might be available to get an injury-prone player.
Barcelona will play against Sevilla on September 3, 2022. It is going to be the first real test for Xavi Hernandez’s team, who are currently in the third position in the La Liga table.
