Before signing his three-year contract, which includes an option for a one-year additional year, Lewandowski will fly to Spain on Saturday for a physical.

With only one year left on his Bayern contract, the Polish international informed the team that he would not be renewing.

Lewandowski’s German champions, who had previously maintained he wasn’t for sale, rejected a €40 million (£33.8 million) approach from Barcelona last month.

Lewandowski’s exit, however, would enable Bayern to pay for the acquisition of Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus, who have set a price of about €80 million (£67.7 million) plus bonuses, according to Sky in Italy.

The sporting director of Bayern, Hasan Salihamidzic, was in Turin on Monday to begin talks with Juventus over De Ligt.

The Dutchman, who still has two years left on his contract with Juventus, has informed the Italian team of his desire to transfer to Munich.

In an effort to replace Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, who both left on free transfers, Chelsea have also been keeping an eye on De Ligt this summer. However, they are about to finalize a deal for Kalidou Koulibaly.

    A Prolific GoalScorer

Since joining Bayern in 2014, Lewandowski has made 375 appearances for the team, scoring 344 goals in all competitions.

After scoring 35 goals in 34 Bundesliga games in 2021–2022, he was named the league’s top scorer for the fifth consecutive season.

He has assisted Bayern Munich in winning eight Bundesliga titles in the last eight seasons as well as three German cups.

Xavi is in serious need of a top-tier striker who can ensure 30 or more goals per season. A two- or three-year deal with an annual salary of roughly €35 million to €40 million (£30 million to £34 million) is in the works.

Barcelona cannot afford high fees but can afford expensive salaries. Lewandowski had always desired to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona in Spain.

    Robert Lewandowski career goals

Lewandowski is regarded as one of the greatest strikers of all time and one of the most successful players in Bundesliga history because of his positioning, technique, and finishing.

For club and country, he has scored more than 600 goals in his senior career.

Robert Lewandowski has played 341 times for Bayern throughout the course of his seven seasons with the German powerhouse and netted an incredible 493 goals. 69 of these goals were scored in the UEFA Champions League.
