Following the completion of Mason Mount move to Old Trafford, ex-teammate Reece James has sent an emotional goodbye message to the midfielder.

Mount was officially unveiled as Manchester United’s newest addition on the 6th of July, 2023.

The Englishman penned a five-year deal with the Red Devils, joining the Old Trafford club for a transfer fee of £60 million.

Mason Mount concluded his 18-year partnership with Chelsea, having joined at the age of 6.

Majority of those years were spent in the company of Reece James as they grew through the ranks of the Blues.

James took to Instagram to write a heartfelt Instagram message to the departed Mount.

He expressed how he has watched the midfielder grow from the cadet levels to first team football.

The 24-year-old wrote: “Ma brother man. Where do I start, I’ve know you since 6 years old, we grew together and took similar paths in breaking into the first team.

“Something that seemed virtually impossible. I’m proud to say I done it along side you.

“I’ve seen you as a little boy and watched you grow into the man and player you are today, you’ve done yourself and your family proud.”

Both Reece James and Mason Mount made their first team debut for the Stamford Bridge club in 2019, against Grimsby Town and Manchester United respectively.

These first team appearances for both English stars came after loan spells at Wigan Athletic and Derby County respectively.

Following their debuts, they quickly acclimatized into the first team and they became regular starters for the club.

Both were really impressive for Chelsea during the 2020/21 season, as they helped the club to win the Champions League title.

They also assisted the club to win the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in 2022.

Reece James, who put pen-to-paper on a six-year deal with Chelsea in 2022, also acknowledged the success both players have had since their debuts.

He also did well in wishing his “brother” all the best as he penned a massive deal at Manchester United.

Mason Mount said it wasn’t easy leaving Chelsea

Mason Mount also noted that it wasn’t easy making that decision to leave the West London side.

Mount, following his arrival to United said: “It’s never easy leaving the club where you grew up, but Manchester United will provide an exciting new challenge for the next phase of my career.”

The Portsmouth born man made 195 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 33 goals and providing 37 assists in all competitions.

Reece James concluded his goodbye message to Mason Mount with: “It’s sad to say goodbye. I wish you nothing but happiness, good health and the best of luck on your new adventure! You’ll always be blue at heart!”

James was recently in the news for brashly replying to an Arsenal fan, who asked for him to join the Gunners.

Reece James replied negatively to the request of the Arsenal faithful and that resulted in demands by Chelsea supporters that he should be made captain.

Anyway, reports indicate that he has been made Vice Captain, with Thiago Silva made the Captain of Chelsea, due to the imminent departure of Cesar Azpilicueta.

Meanwhile, Callum Hudson-Odoi also took to Instagram to send his own goodbye message with a post on his Insta story.

He shared a picture when they won the youth cup alongside a picture when they won the Champions League.

Odoi wrote: “My Brother Mase, From winning youth cups to playing on the big stage together! I wish nothing but the best for you future!”

Now ex-teammate at club level, Ben Chilwell also said the exit of Mason Mount was a “sad day” for everyone at Chelsea.

His goodbye message reads: “A sad day for us all at Chels, this guy was a big reason I wanted to join the club and I’m so glad I did. We have had the best memories together and im so glad we got to share the pitch together. I wish you the best of luck in your next chapter. Love you brother 💙”
