Real Salt Lake have completed the signing of attacker Diogo Goncalves from FC Copenhagen for a fee of €3 million.

Goncalves becomes the 4th signing made by Real Salt Lake this summer, having already secured the services of Javain Brown, Lachlan Brook, and Benji Michel.
Diogo Goncalves has signed a 2-year deal with Real Salt Lake, which will keep him at the club until 2026, and there is the option for the deal to be extended until 2027 and 2028.
Confirming the acquisition of the 27-year-old, the Claret and Cobalt put out a statement on their website which reads:
“Real Salt Lake has once again added attacking prowess to its roster with today’s acquisition of M/F Diogo Gonçalves, the former Portuguese youth international and FC Copenhagen (Denmark) playmaker, a veteran of more than 30 UEFA Champions League appearances.”
Goncalves made 39 appearances for Copenhagen in the 2023/24 season, scoring 11 goals and providing 6 assists in all competitions.

Speaking after joining Real Salt Lake, Diogo Goncalves expressed his gladness to play for the club and tagged the move as a “step forward” in his career.
The Portuguese said: “I am very happy to arrive at Real Salt Lake and take this step forward in my career.”
He also pointed out the growth that the Major League Soccer league is experiencing and shared his objectives at the club.
Goncalves added: “Major League Soccer’s growth is a great thing – this League has everything to take the next steps – and my objective is to work hard, help the Club, and obviously provide goals and assists to lift RSL to the highest level.”
The 27-year-old will wear the number 10 jersey at Real Salt Lake and he will be hoping to display his brilliance in the club’s attacking department.
