The unveiling of Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid has officially been done, following the footballer’s move to the club this summer on a free transfer.

Mbappe’s dream move to Los Blancos was confirmed on June 3, 2024, with fans of the White Angels delighted by the news.

Real Madrid made his acquisition known via a statement shared on the club’s website and it reads: “Real Madrid C.F. and Kylian Mbappé have reached an agreement under which he will become a Real Madrid player for the next five seasons.”

Mbappe was unveiled donning the revered number 9 jersey, which has previously been worn by club greats such as Karim Benzema, Roberto Soldado, and even Cristiano Ronaldo amongst others.

Reports had in the past indicated that Kylian Mbappe opted to take the number 9 jersey at Real Madrid due to the respect he has for Luka Modric, who currently wears the number 10 shirt.

Fans of Los Merengues will be banking on him to deliver the goods next season, as they hunt for more honors in the 2024/25 season.

The Unveiling Of Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappe wore the iconic Real Madrid white jersey for the first time and walked to the pitch at the Santiago Bernabeu, waving to the fans present at a packed stadium as they applauded their new Galactico signing.

He also stressed his desire to achieve success at Real Madrid, saying: “This is the biggest club in the world. I want to win, I want to be part of the history of this club”.

It will be fascinating to see how the captain of France combines well with other stars at the club like Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham, both players who are frontrunners for the 2024 Ballon d’Or award.

Kylian Mbappe was pictured with Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, with the pair looking eyeball to eyeball as they commence their working relationship.

Mbappe also posed for pictures with his father Wilfred, and mother Fayza Lamari alongside  Los Merengues President Florentino Perez.

Kylian Mbappe Looking To Surpass The Heights Of Cristiano Ronaldo At Real Madrid?

Kylian Mbappe will be looking to sculpt new unquestionable heights into history at Real Madrid after his unveiling, as he also aims to win several individual honors and trophies at the club.

His unveiling is similar to that of football great Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009 and fans will be keen on seeing him delineate brilliance like the Portuguese.

Los Blancos had earlier revealed that some club greats will be present for the unveiling and Zidane was at the Santiago Bernabeu to give Mbappe a befitting welcome.

Kylian Mbappe In Euro 2024

Moreover, Mbappe had an underwhelming outing with France at Euro 2024, having suffered a broken nose in their opening game of the tournament.

The injury probably prevented him from delivering his best, as it appeared to have caused him some discomfort all through the tournament, with the attacker making do with a nose mask.

The European Championship title is also the only international trophy eluding Kylian Mbappe, having won the FIFA World Cup in 2018 and the UEFA Nations League in 2021.

He certainly will be content to have netted in the tournament but overall, Mbappe will be disappointed by his outing in Euro 2024 with France.

Mbappe Contract Details At Real Madrid

Additionally, Kylian Mbappe will be paid an annual salary of around €15 million and €20 million with yearly increments.

The 25-year-old is also expected to receive a €125 million signing-on bonus spread over five years of the deal.

The Frenchman will get 80% of his image rights throughout the period he will spend at Real Madrid except the contract is reviewed and altered.

Despite the big figures being thrown around, Kylian Mbappe is understood to have agreed a significant pay cut to join the Madrid-based club.

Mbappe earned €25 million net at Paris Saint Germain, however he will take home €15 million net every season at Real Madrid, although it still makes him the club’s top earner despite the huge salary cut.
