The 14 times Champions League winners have joined their opponents at the last season’s final, Liverpool in expressing their anger over the unwarranted hostility before, during, and after the game by the French police, as well as the absence of police presence when it came to defending fans from muggings after the game.

Several Real Madrid fans reportedly received penalties from French police for wearing their team colors while going around the Eiffel Tower or down the Champs-Elysees under the fictitious excuse of “prohibited demonstrations.” To make matters worse, the €375 fines were handed out more than a month after the event, with police issuing punishments to the supporters.

According to AS, Real has committed to take legal action to investigate the allegations after hearing about the fines. French officials have been looking into the events surrounding the Champions League final and have started to take responsibility for the violent scenes after originally blaming “ticketless Liverpool fans” for the majority of the mayhem.

“It is obviously a failure,” said Paris police chief Didier Lallement of the incident. “It was a failure because people were pushed around and attacked. It was a failure because the image of the country was undermined.”

Meanwhile, Real Madrid had an impressive run at the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League competition after they went through the knockout stages with great comebacks against Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Manchester City before meeting Liverpool at the finals. Going into the finals, Liverpool’s hitman Mohamed Salah revealed that he wanted to take revenge on the Spanish giants.

Recall that Real Madrid face Liverpool in the 2018 UEFA Champions League final where Mohamed Salah was injured in the first half and he left the pitch in tears. Hence, the Egyptian king tweeted “we have scores to settle” when it was obvious that they will play Real Madrid in the final.

He also said that he wants to take an act of revenge on the team for what happened in 2018. But he failed to do that after being stopped by the Real Madrid goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, who was in amazing form that night. Real Madrid’s win over Liverpool gave them their 14th UEFA Champions League title.
