Real Madrid have come to the conclusion that they would be involved in the process when the judge opens the case involving the scandalous act of bribery and corruption at FC Barcelona.

    Real Madrid

In a board meeting on Sunday, the club expressed its seriousness about the Barcelona action and it’s confident in the stance of the law and that of justice.

In the Real Madrid meeting, previous Barcelona presidents like Josep Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell were mentioned, along with two former managers, Albert Soler and Oscar Grau, in relation to bribing the vice president of the technical commission of the referee, Jose Maria Enriquez.

    Real Madrid

The Real Madrid owner, Florentino Pérez, is taking the case seriously and won’t back down until Barcelona receives the final punishment for the crime committed.

Barcelona may be hit with heavy sanctions that may see them lose the La Liga title and the Champions League they won during the previous years under the presidency of Bartomeu.

Other punishment, if found guilty, may involve points deduction from the team. However, Barcelona has denied any wrongdoing in the case.

Barcelona’s current president, Joan Laporta, reacted to the incident, claiming the other teams wanted to spoil the reputation of the club.

However, it may not be business as usual for Barcelona with the involvement of one of the biggest teams in Spain, Real Madrid.

This is not the first allegation brought against Barcelona, as in previous years the club has been involved in transfer window fraud.

    Josep Bartomeu

Bartomeu allegedly committed a lot of economic crime with his extensive spending and giving out exorbitant wages to players.

Bartomeu is seen as one of the worst Barcelona presidents in history.

He put Barcelona in worrisome debt, which made it difficult for the club to spend big in recent years.

Currently, the club still has to sell players worth $140 million as La Liga continues to
    make them trim the squad.

What’s next for Real Madrid and Barcelona?

Both Real Madrid and Barcelona meet in the La Liga on March 19, 2023, for the El Classico.

Real Madrid have lost two times to Barcelona this season and may lose again for the third time.

Carlo Ancelotti, who had been under pressure due to poor run of games, should look forward to compelling his team to be clinical enough against Barcelona to score a lot of goals in a bid to close the gap between them.

Barcelona are in pole position to win La Liga for the first time under Xavi, and the manager doesn’t want to miss this opportunity in front of him.

It is also a must-win match for Barcelona, who are currently on top of the table with 62 points from 24 matches, while Real Madrid stay in second place with 56 points.
