He has been at the Getafe youth team as a professional footballer since July 2017 before he gained promotion to the club’s senior team on August 1, 2020. In the three seasons he featured in the club’s youth team, Hugo Duro played 57 matches, he scored 15 goals and made 4 assists.
“Hugo Duro leaves on loan to Real Madrid Castilla”, a statement issued by Getafe read. “The youth squad forward will play on loan this 2020/21 season at Real Madrid Castilla, after the agreement reached between both entities. The white entity will have a purchase option on the footballer.”
The football background of Hugo Duro
Hugo Duro started grooming himself to become a footballer when he joined Getafe in 2004. Then, he was five-year-old. Due to his talent, his promotion was so rapid that he made his first professional appearance for Getafe on 24 October 2017. He achieved this career feat when his team loss 0-1 to Deportivo Alavés during a Copa del Rey match.
Afterward, he continued his development with the reserve team of Getafe and earned his first professional goal on 19 November 2017 against DAV Santa Ana.
In less than four months later, the Spanish youngster made his first Spanish La Liga appearance when Getafe visited Real Sociedad during the 2017-2018 season.
Just recently, Hugo Duro was invited to Spain Under-21 squad for the first time in his career which means that his country’s national football team believes in him as much as Real Madrid.
Though he was not able to establish himself in Getafe senior team, he was more or less a force to be reckoned with in the B side of the club. For instance, in the just concluded 2019-2020 season, the Spanish star played 22 matches, he scored 11 goals for Getafe B team.
This performance could be what attracted Real Madrid to him. He has now gotten the attention of the Spanish giants, it is left to him to play into the hearts of the club’s management in order to get a permanent deal or even gain promotion to the club’s first team.
