Real Madrid are reportedly ready to sign Kylain Mbappe for the sum of 200 million pounds in January 2024, without negotiating with Paris Saint Germain.

According to reports, the Spanish powerhouse intends to reach a pre-contract commitment with the French International player in January, before they sign him for free next summer.

The former Monaco forward made headlines throughout the just concluded summer transfer window with a link away from PSG but no deal seems to have materialized.

However, Real Madrid were the favorite to secure the service of the 2018 World Cup winner but both did not hold talks during the summer transfer window.

Kylian Mbappe pushed extremely hard to depart the French champions by refusing to sign a new contract offer given to him by PSG which led to the club’s decision to exclude him from their pre-season matches tour in Japan.

Things were resolved between the two parties after PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi held a one-on-one meeting with the 24-year-old forward.

Kylain Mbappe returned to the first team in PSG’s second match of the season and has since scored five goals in his first three games in the French Ligue 1 campaign so far.

There are assumptions that Mbappe could agree a new deal with the French powerhouse.

However, If PSG didn’t reach an agreement with the France national team captain, it meant he would leave the club when his current contract expires on June 30, 2023, giving Real Madrid the edge of signing him for free next summer.

Mbappe was linked with a move to the Saudi Arabia Pro League after a Saudi club side Al Hilal came up with an eye-catching 300 million pounds deal to secure his acquisition but turned down the massive offer.

Real Madrid approached PSG with a deal reportedly worth £172 million which was rejected by the club’s president.

Instead, the 14 times UEFA Champions League-winning club have set aside around 200 million pounds to secure the acquisition of the 24-year-old forward in the form of wages and a signing-on fee.

Real Madrid

PSG wanted the World Cup winner to sign a new contract so that they could collect a transfer fee if he leaves in the summer of 2024, even though he had no interest in doing so.

What’s next for PSG and Real Madrid?

The French Powerhouse are once again contemplating a new deal offer to tie Mbappe but the player has so far restricted tension.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, failed to replace Karim Benzema with a big acquisition during the just concluded summer transfer window because they are still banking on signing the PSG attacker next summer.

Therefore, it is left to the 24-year-old striker to decide on his future, but as things stand, Kylian Mbappe will likely depart PSG in the summer of 2024 in search of new challenges and probably a European trophy that elude him.
