Real Madrid have not been able to replace Cristiano Ronaldo since he played his last match for Los Blancos in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Ever since Cristiano Ronaldo stepped down the stairs of Kyiv in Ukraine in 2018, Los Blancos have not been able to find another number #7.
The Spanish giants in search of a replacement have signed Mariano Diaz and Eden Hazard but they have failed to fill the void.
Real Madrid are now looking cursed with the #7 jersey as there have not been any replacement since Ronaldo left.
What was supposed to be remembered as a happy memory turned out to be a sad one for some fans as that was Ronaldo’s last match.
It was a sad and happy day for the fans as after the match, Portuguese goal machine Cristiano Ronaldo was seen heading down the turnel.
And that walking down the tunnel was evidently the former Manchester United’s last match for the club since arriving in 2009.
The Spanish giants have gone on to sign two different players and have given them the opportunity of wearing the #7 jersey, but none did half of what Ronaldo did at Madrid.
Futballnews brings you the two players that have been tipped over the years to replace Cristiano Ronaldo but have failed, stay with us…
Mariano Diaz
In a bid to get a perfect number 7, Real Madrid first signed Mariano Diaz from CF Badalona in August 2012 but started from youth team.
Mariano was promoted to the main squad by manager Zinedine Zidane on 20 August 2016, after a back injury to striker Karim Benzema.
He was subsequently signed out to Olympique Lyonnais on 30th June 2017 but returned to Real Madrid in August 2018.
Madrid announced they had signed Mariano on a five-year contract but as Real Madrid owned 35% of his playing rights, the fee was reduced to €23 million.
He was given shirt number 7 jersey, previously worn by Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, Mariano failed to live up to expectations and only managed six goals in 52 league appearances for Real Madrid.
Real Madrid thanked Mariano for his dedication and professionalism during his time at the club and wished him all the best in his new career as he left the club.
Eden Hazard For Real Madrid
Eden Michael Walter Hazard is a Belgian footballer who was born on 7 January 1991 and last played as a winger or attacking midfielder for Real Madrid.
Hazard is known for his creativity, dribbling, passing and vision, and he is considered one of the best players of his generation.
He joined the Spanish giants in the summer of 2019 in a transfer worth up to €150 million, making it one of the highest transfer fees ever.
The former Chelsea star player left Madrid with a record unbefitting the star he was: 54 games, 30 starts and four goals.
This came after a disappointing four season at the Santiago Bernabeu despite all the money spent to land him from Chelsea in 2019.
