Arsenal’s transfer plan has suffered a blow as Real Madrid are considering bringing Dani Ceballos back to the club this summer.

Arsenal coach, Mikel Arteta has never hidden his admiration for the creative midfielder. He had said the club will like to sign him on a permanent deal or get him for another season on another loan deal.

Ceballos has been an important player at Arsenal

Real Madrid however looks likely to want their player for next season after having a successful stint with the Gunners when he won the FA Cup with the squad against Chelsea.

Futballnews, however, understands that Madrid is weighing up its options after last Friday’s elimination from the Champions League last 16 by Manchester City.

Why Zidane want Dani Ceballos at Real Madrid

It could be recalled that Ceballos was not given enough game time during Zinedine Zidane’s first spell in charge but could be brought back as the Frenchman looks to revitalize an aging midfield with the ongoing financial impact of Covid-19 ruling out big summer signings.

Although his desire initially was to triumph at Real the Spain international is keen on regular playing time as he looks to earn a place at next summer’s European Championships and also the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Ahead of the pre-season, Zidane is expected to decide on the player’s future, but senior figures at the Spanish side remain confident he has the ability to be a success at Real.

    Madrid also wants Odegaard back

In a related development, Real Madrid is also considering having Martin Odegaard back in the team having loaned him to Real Sociedad last summer.

Although the two clubs had verbally agreed that the Norwegian would stay at Anoeta for two years, Madrid now wants the 21-year-old to return.

Real Sociedad is hoping that the player, who is happy in San Sebastian would stay for the two seasons, but the Basque club has always maintained Los Blancos would have the final say on the Scandinavian’s destination for the 2020-21 campaign.

    Odegaard in action against Barcelona

Odegaard during his spell so far with Sociedad has scored seven goals in 36 appearances.

During his impressive season, he is seen as an important player by Madrid and possibly a long-term replacement for Luka Modric as the Croatian enters into the final year of his contract.

He is currently with Madrid after suffering from tendonitis towards the end of the season. The club will be able to monitor his condition and fitness much more closely and possibly decided on his future.
