Rasmus Hojlund is currently struggling at Manchester United especially in the Premier League due to the level of incompetent players at the club, United legend Jaap Stam claims.
In these nine appearances, the Danish forward has not found the back of the net once despite getting full minutes in the majority of these matches.
However, his story is different in the Champions League. He has scored 5 goals in 4 Champions League matches for the Red Devils.
Well, former United defender Jaap Stam has taken time to reveal the real reason why the 20-year-old has struggled to adjust in the Premier League since his arrival.
Stam claims that the major reason why Rasmus Hojlund is seriously struggling at Manchester United is because of the incompetent players he is surrounded with.
Before Hojland joined Manchester United, he played for Atalanta in the 2022/23 Serie A campaign and scored 16 goals while providing 7 assist in 42 appearances.
Stam, who spoke to Soccernews in collaboration with Tipsbladet, said: “He has made a really good impression on me. I think he is a really good player. He is very talented. He has an excellent left leg, a really good physique, and lots of speed. And he has shown that in his first matches for United.”
“The thing about him, when he comes to such a big club as a very young man, is that it is not easy for him to show his qualities. Because he also needs the players around him. He needs them to put him on stage and give him opportunities to score.”
“Rasmus Hojlund plays in a team that lacks confidence. He has players around him who don’t have the confidence and maybe not even the qualities to play at this level.”
Stam went on to praise Rasmus Hojlund, saying: ‘”So it’s not going to be easy for him, but he’s just going to have to do what he can. He must show his qualities and work hard. Hopefully, he scores some goals and then he gets even more confidence.”
Hojland, 20, will be hoping to score his first goal for the Red Devils in the Premier League as United face Everton at Goodison Park just after the international break.

Rasmus Winther Højlund is a Danish footballer who was born on 4th February, 2003 and plays as a forward for Manchester United and the Denmark national team.
Rasmus Hojlund is a graduate of Copenhagen’s youth academy and made his first-team debut for the club aged 17 in October 2020.
He scored five goals in 32 appearances for Copenhagen. Hojlund joined Austrian club Sturm Graz in January 2022. and was signed by Atalanta for €17 million.
Hojlund played youth international football for Denmark from the under-16 to under-21 level and he made his senior international debut in September 2022.
The Danish professional footballer was later snatched up by Manchester United in the summer for a five-year deal worth €75 million.

During his playing days, he played as a center-back and is regarded as one of the best defenders of his generation.
Stam played for several European clubs including PSV Eindhoven, Manchester United, Lazio, Milan, and Ajax before retiring in October 2007.
He moved into management in 2009 and has managed Reading, PEC Zwolle, Feyenoord, and FC Cincinnati.
