Ralf Rangnick has responded to Cristiano Ronaldo’s criticism against him as his interim managerial role at Manchester United has been recanted.

Ralf Rangnick assumed control of Man United after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was fired in November of last year. The club also announced that the German would continue in a consulting capacity for an additional two years following the end of the current campaign.

Rangnick, however, was ultimately fired from his consulting position because he was unable to raise performance levels while serving as interim manager. He left the club after United finished with their lowest-ever Premier League point total.

Ralf Rangnick led Manchester United in 24 games throughout which he won ten, tied seven, and lost seven.

Rangnick’s tenure at United was a complete failure. The players did not support him and did not believe in his plan.

Ronaldo was one of the players that made it clearest that he disagreed with the manager’s strategies out of all those who made no effort for Rangnick.

At the time, it was said that Rangnick’s high-pressing method, which required a striker to initiate the press and take the lead in the defensive effort, did not sit well with Ronaldo.

After getting harsh criticism from Ronaldo, who was interviewed by Piers Morgan recently, Rangnick was obliged to reaffirm this week that he is focused on managing Austria’s national team. Rangnick was appointed Austria’s national team manager in late April.

The 37-year-old Portugal international has blasted the club’s Glazer’s owners, manager Erik ten Hag, and their choice to employ Ralf Rangnick, an ex-boss.

In an interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo said: “It astonished me that Ralf Rangnick, who isn’t even a coach, was appointed Manchester United’s manager after Ole was fired. If you’re not even a coach, how are you going to be the leader of Manchester United? I’d never even heard of him.”

When questioned over Ronaldo’s remarks, Rangnick responded: “I’m the team manager of Austria’s national team; it’s not my business to judge that. It is the responsibility of both Manchester United and the sports media.”

Before his unsuccessful interim appointment at United, the 64-year-old’s most recent coaching position was at RB Leipzig in 2019.

Ronaldo is grabbing all the attention, and when the whole interview is broadcast on Wednesday and Thursday, additional shocking revelations are expected to follow, along with a response from United.

However, Former Arsenal player Jack Wilshere has encouraged Arsenal not to try to recruit Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United.

Note that the Portuguese international, who is about to depart United after giving a shocking interview to Piers Morgan last week, has angered the host.

Morgan suggested Arsenal get Ronaldo during the winter transfer window after the interview.

Although the Portuguese may “still add something to the Emirates,” Wilshere advised that Arteta should avoid signing Ronaldo.

“I still believe there is an advantage to having him, to see how he lives and how he does things”, Wilshere said.

“No, I don’t think Mikel would want him, and neither would I.”

In the summer of 2020, Cristiano Ronaldo unexpectedly returned to Manchester United, where he scored 24 goals across all competitions to assist the Old Trafford based team to qualify for the Europa League.

The manager officially stated that the former Real Madrid and Juventus player was part of his season-long plans, apparently blocking his request to leave the club last summer.
