The interim coach of Manchester United, Ralf Rangnick has admitted that some players at the club were not happy and went on to confirm that Harry Maguire remains the captain of the club.

Recall that throughout the outgoing week, there has been a series of reports speculating that Manchester United’s dressing room is in crisis. The crisis is said to be centered around Cristiano Ronaldo and the club’s captain Maguire.

Reports claimed that Ronaldo wanted to be the captain of the club and has gotten the backing of the club’s coach. Reports also claimed that Ronaldo has won the hearts of the majority of the youngsters at the club while Maguire has lost his respect due to his poor run of form.

Aside from that, a report surfaced that Maguire and Marcus Rashford were irritated by the amount of influence Ronaldo has on the club’s dressing room.

But Rashford has taken to Twitter to debunk the report and Ronaldo has taken to his Instagram story to share a picture of himself posing beside Rashford to confirm that there was no rift between them.

Also, Maguire has taken to Twitter to debunk the report that there was a power tussle between him and Ronaldo.

Ahead of the Premier League game between Leeds United and Manchester United scheduled to take place at Elland Road on Sunday, February 20, coach Ralf Rangnick made it clear that Maguire will remain United’s captain for the rest of the season.

Manchester United coach, Ralf Rangnick has admitted that some players at the club were unhappy before the January transfer window.

Before the January transfer window closed, Manchester United allowed a couple of the club’s players to go on loan. Some of the players have been complaining that they have not been playing regularly.

Recall that Donny van de Beek had to leave Manchester United for Everton during the January transfer window since he could not establish himself at the club. Amad Diallo also had to leave the club for the Rangers to get more playing time.

In the same vein, French striker Anthony Martial had to leave United to join Sevilla on loan. Only Jesse Lingard was not able to exit after a series of speculations.

When coach Ralf Rangnick was asked whether he was frustrated about the reported split in the club’s dressing room, the coach said: “I’m not frustrated at all as I know it’s not the truth. I’ve told you already about Harry being the captain and it is not an issue at all.

“It’s never been an issue for us and me. All the other things I don’t pay attention to. I don’t listen to the noise as my full focus is on preparing the team for the next training and the next game.

“I have heard about what was written but all I can tell you is from my own experience in the last 11-12 weeks, yes there were players unhappy until the closure of the window as the squad was too big and we had too many players who realized they couldn’t get game time.

“This has improved for sure. The atmosphere is better in the locker room than it was a few weeks ago.

“For us, it’s about performing well and showing a togetherness on the pitch, getting the best out of our performances, and winning games. These are the things we can influence.”
