Raheem Sterling has taken to his social media pages to say goodbye to Manchester City fans as he prepares to continue with his football career at Chelsea.
Futballnews has reported that Manchester City and Chelsea have agreed on a deal worth over £45million for Sterling to leave the Etihad Stadium for Stamford Bridge.
Before then, Chelsea, Raheem Sterling, and his representatives agreed on personal terms which meant that there was no going back since Chelsea had agreed to match City’s asking price.
Though Chelsea are yet to officially unveil the 27-year-old left-winger as their first signing this summer and the first major signing under the club’s new owner, Todd Boehly, Raheem Sterling has already made his exit from City official.
In a statement the English international shared on all his social media pages on Wednesday, June 13, 2022, to confirm his exit from City, Raheem Sterling described his time at City as a “lifetime of memories”.
Sterling wrote: “Seven seasons. Eleven major trophies. A lifetime of memories.
“To the coaching staff who have played a massive role in my development over the years. To my teammates who have become more than just those, I share a pitch with. To the backroom staff. To the office staff. To the fans who have tirelessly supported the team. And to everyone involved with Manchester City, my respect for you couldn’t be greater.
“What a ride it’s been. I am thankful for the ups and downs, as it’s the downs that have, at times, tested my strength and resolve, and enabled me to stand here in front of you as the best possible version of myself
“I arrived in Manchester a 20-year-old, today I leave as a man. Thank you for your endless support. It’s been an honor to wear the shirt of Manchester City.”
