Sterling who was excluded from Gareth Southgate’s squad for the forthcoming Euro 2024 qualifier, left the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar mid-way.

The reason he left the tournament was because his family’s Surrey mansion was raided by armed intruders in the absence of his fiancee and kids.

Surrey Police later moved to clear the air about the situation after residents in the area raised concerns.

The police confirmed that the Winger’s family were not at home and had discovered missing watches and jewelry after they returned from Qatar.

They also confirmed that there was no report of intruders and there was no injuries as well citing that they were still trying to establish the time of the incident.

The Police also stated that Raheem Sterling, 28, will be informed of the development as the investigation has come to a halt and left on a file.

Police spokesperson in Surrey said: “All current lines of enquiry have been pursued and the matter will now sit on file pending any new information coming to light. The victim has been made aware of this.”

Sterling came off the bench in England’s quarter-final defeat to France after they managed a win over Senegal in Qatar.

That was his last appearance for Gareth Southgate’s side and now he has been left out of the squad to play the Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia.

Southgate backed Sterling when asked about the omission, he said: “I spoke with him (Sterling) a week or so ago. A general catch-up. He is not happy with his condition physically, carrying a hamstring problem.”
