PSG Transfer scene will be the most dramatic as Lionel Messi and Neymar set to hit the exit door from Parc des Princes at the end of the summer.
PSG will be missing two out of their deadly trio as the edge on the exit lanes from the French Ligue 1 champions. However, a thin lifeline for PSG to retain one has surfaced – Lionel Messi’s wife is not keen with the move to Saudi Arabia.
According to French media outlet, L’Equipe, Lionel Messi’s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo has objected to Messi’s move to Saudi Arabia.
According to the report, she doesn’t want to relocate to the Middle East with their family for personal reasons best known to her.
However, Futballnews understands Antonela Roccuzzo stance on her husband’s potential move is immaterial as Messi have already sealed a deal to join the Al-Hilal in the summer.
Although Al-Hilal are yet to issue an official statement on the deal, sources close to the club have revealed Messi have agreed a record two-year deal with Al-Hilal worth £522m, AFP reports.
All terms of agreement were reportedly settled today, May 9, 2023. The seven times Ballon d’Or winner will be plying his trade in Al-Hilal shirt next season, all things being equal.
Neymar calls for PSG exit
As Lionel Messi concludes his PSG exit plan in the summer, his PSG teammate and fellow South American baller Neymar Jr is also on the exit lane from PSG.
According to Brazilian outlet, UOL, Neymar wants to leave PSG at the end of the summer and Ligue 1 champions are ready to cash out and let off his £44m annual wage bill off the books.
The report adds PSG are ready to broker ‘a significantly reduced deal’ with any club that is interested in signing him in the summer.
Neymar is reportedly aware of plans by PSG to let him go in the summer. He is also pushing earnestly to leave the club amid his dwindling popularity with fans, who are calling for him to leave the club.
Neymar joined PSG in 2017 as the most expensive player ever in football history. PSG bought him for £198m.
As things stand, we understand PSG will incure a heavy loss on Neymar as no club will be ready to fork out £198m for the player.
Manchester United, Chelsea, and Newcastle United have been linked to the player.
Neymar has 82 goals in 122 appearances for PSG since he joined the club in 2017 while Lionel Messi has 21 goals in 54 appearances for PSG since he joined the club in 2021.
Has PSG Superstars project failed?
With Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr on the exit door from Parc des Princes, it is obvious the PSG superstars project has failed.
The have dominated French Ligue 1 but have been found wanting on the European scene. Nassr Al-Khelaifi will need a reshuffling of PSG recruitment strategy.
Instead of vouching for quick results by spending heavily to land big-name players with great career profiles, going back to the Academy to recruit youngsters and build a great team on the long term is a panacea for the PSG quagmire.
