PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe made an appearance at the NBA Draft Lottery alongside basketball wonder kid Victor Wembanyama.
On Tuesday evening, the San Antonio Spurs, situated in Texas, were granted the first overall choice in the NBA Draft Lottery.
Wembanyama, depicted as an ‘alien’ by basketball legend LeBron James, is largely expected to be signed by the Spurs.
On Tuesday, May 16 Mail Sport reported that French football superstar Kylian Mbappe attended the 7ft 5ins 19-year-old’s final regular season game.
And, according to a social media video, Paris Saint-Germain forward Mbappe, one of the best players in the world, caught up with Wembanyama on the evening of the draft.
The official English-speaking Twitter account of Ligue 1, France’s top football league, released a photo of the pair cheerfully standing together with the caption: ‘French perfection.’
Spurs owner Peter Holt, who was present at the lottery in Chicago, was overjoyed when it was announced that his team had won the No. 1 choice, yelling ‘Let’s go!’ and subsequently joking that he might faint’ when interviewed.
The NBA recorded Wembanyama in Paris as he discovered he was the No. 1 choice.
When the announcement was made, he clapped and clenched his fists in delight.
San Antonio had the joint-best odds of receiving the top selection – 14 percent – and will now have the opportunity to sign the prodigy once branded an ‘alien’ by James.
Victor stated during a live ESPN interview from Paris: ‘I’m going to [do] all I can to win as many games as I can. ‘I’m attempting to win a ring as soon as possible, so be prepared.’
And supporters of the San Antonio Spurs echoed Holt’s joy, bursting when they learned Wembanyama would most likely be a Spur.
