The composition of the top 10 highest-paid footballers in French Ligue 1 has changed slightly following the exit of Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid

Notably, the places of players on the ladder have not changed compared to last season, except Mbappe missing from the top of the ladder. This is because all the top 10 highest-paid footballers in Ligue 1 are playing for one club – PSG. None of the other 19 clubs in the French top flight have been able to break into the elite wage structure.

Mbappe earned an astonishing €70m every year at PSG in the 2023-24 Ligue 1 season with a weekly wage of €1,384,000. Ousmane Dembele was a distant second after signing a €20m-per-year five-year contract with the club in 2023.

With Mbappe out of the picture, Dembele is now leading the chart with his €20m-per-year salary. Below is a list of the top 10 highest-paid Ligue 1 players going into the 2024-25 season;

France international, Ousmane Dembele, is leading the list of the highest-paid players in the French Ligue ahead of the next season. Playing for PSG, Dembele’s estimated annual wage is €20m with his weekly wage pecked at €384,000. He made 26 Ligue 1 appearances for the club last term, scoring 3 goals with 8 assists, and is contracted to the club till 2028.

Lucas Hernandez

Highest-paid Footballers in French Ligue 1

Lucas Hernandez is second on the chart with an annual paycheck of €19m. His estimated weekly wage is €365,000. The 27-year-old plays as a defender for PSG and is contracted to the club till 2028. He tallied 27 Ligue 1 appearances in his debut campaign with the club last term.

Marquinhos

Highest-paid Footballers in French Ligue 1

Marquinhos, 30, is currently the longest-serving PSG player and the club’s captain. The Brazilian defender has been at the Ligue 1 outfit since 2013 when he joined from Roma. His annual wage at the club is €16.8m with an estimated weekly wage of €323,000. He has made 294 Ligue 1 appearances for the club, scoring 26 goals. He penned down a new five-year contract with the Ligue 1 champions in 2023 till 2028.

Milan Skriniar

Milan Skriniar is fourth on the chart of the top 10 highest-paid players in French Ligue 1, with an estimated annual wage of €16.3m. His weekly paycheck is €314,000. The 29-year-old Slovakian defender joined PSG last season from Inter Milan. He has made 27 Ligue appearances for the club and has contract till 2028.

Hakimi

Highest-paid Footballers in French Ligue 1

Morocco international and prolific right-back Hakimi is fifth in the chart, with an estimated annual salary of €14.5m, and a weekly wage of €279,000. He has made 85 Ligue 1 appearances for PSG, scoring 13 goals. The 25-year-old is contracted to the Ligue 1 outfit till 2026 and has reportedly reached an agreement to sign a new extension.

Marco Asensio

Spain’s prolific attacking midfielder and winger, Marco Asensio, is sixth on the ladder of the highest-paid Ligue 1 players ahead of the next campaign. Asensio’s annual salary at PSG is the same as Hakimi’s – €14.5m.

His estimated weekly wage is €279,000. The former Mallorca player had his debut campaign with the club last term after joining from Real Madrid on a five-year contract till 2028. He made 19 Ligue 1 appearances, scoring 4 goals.

Gianluigi Donnarumma

25-year-old Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is seventh on the list with an annual wage of €12.7m and a weekly offer of €244,000.

Donnarumma has won 80 caps with PSG, since joining the club from AC Milan in 2021. He has two years left on his contract and has been linked to a move to Manchester City while PSG are interested in keeping him on a new deal.

Kolo Muani

French attacking sensation, Kolo Muani, is also among the highest-paid Ligue 1 players. The 25-year-old, who joined PSG from Bundesliga outfit, Eintracht Frankfurt, signed a five-year contract, worth €12.7m per year as Donnarumma’s with the same weekly wage. He made 26 Ligue 1 appearances for the club, scoring 6 goals.

Fabian Ruiz

Spain midfield sensation, Fabian Ruiz, 28, is ninth
on the chart. The Euro 2024 winner has a running five-year contract with PSG, worth €9m, and €174,000 per week. He has made 48 Ligue 1 appearances for the club, scoring 4 goals since joining from Napoli in 2022.

Juan Bernat

Curella-born Spanish defender, Juan Bernat, 31, completes the top 10 highest-paid players in Ligue 1. The center-back, who spent last season on loan to Benfica, earns €8.7m annually with PSG with an estimated weekly wage of €167,000. He recently signed a one-year contract extension with the club till 2025. Bernat has made 89 Ligue 1 appearances for PSG, scoring 2 goals since joining from Bayern Munich in 2018.
