After a well-earned break, Argentina’s World Cup champion Lionel Messi returned to Paris to start reintegrating with Paris Saint-Germain.

Lionel Messi spent the second half of December reveling in his team’s victory over France and PSG colleague Kylian Mbappe in the World Cup final.

Before departing for Paris to resume his club obligations, Messi spent New Year’s Eve in Rosario with his family and friends.

The seven-time winner of the Ballon d’Or celebrated with his La Albiceleste teammates throughout that time in an open-top bus procession before being surrounded by hordes of fans in his hometown of Rosario.

His return to practice on Wednesday will be a positive development for PSG, who lost on Sunday at Lens for the first time in any tournament since March of last year.

Despite having Mbappe, Christophe Galtier’s team suffered greatly without Messi and the suspended Neymar.

As Lionel Messi walked the practice field on Wednesday, PSG players and staff presented him with a guard of honor on January 4th, 2023. The Parisians surrounded the Argentine superstar enthusiastically and applauded him.

Luis Campos, the sporting director of Les Parisiens, was waiting at the end of the line to present him with a golden trophy honoring his World Cup triumph. It was inscribed with a star and his name.

Even though Messi completed the workout without any problems, it is unlikely that he will be called upon right away in the Parisians’ subsequent match.

On Friday, the Round of 64 of the Coupe de France will feature a match between the defending French champions and Chateauroux.

Messi was given a guide of honour by his teammates

PSG has 14 victories from 17 games, which puts them atop the Ligue 1 standings. In 19 games for his team this season, the Argentine attacker has 12 goals and 14 assists.
