Preston Star Milutin Osmajic Hit With an Eight Match Ban For Biting An Opponent

Preston attacker Milutin Osmajic has been hit with an eight-match ban after the Montenegro International bit Blackburn star Owen Beck in September 2024.

The Montenegro international put his teeth on the shoulder of Blackburn Rovers defender Beck. Osmajic escaped a red card as he was not visibly seen biting his opponent. 

On October 4, 2024, the player was found guilty of committing the violence. 

The English Football Federation issued a statement saying: “Preston North End’s Milutin Osmajic has been given an eight-match suspension and £15,000 fine for misconduct during their match against Blackburn Rovers in the EFL Championship on Sunday, 22 September.

“The forward admitted that he committed an act of violent conduct around the 87th minute by biting an opponent.

“An independent Regulatory Commission imposed his sanctions following a hearing. Its written reasons will be published in due course.”

The referee in charge of the game between Preston and Blackburn sent off the victim of the bite, Beck. This came after the defender kicked Preston star Duane Holmes. 

Beck was given a three-match ban for his horrible kick. He has already missed the Blackburn match against Queen Park Rangers and Coventry due to the punishment.

Osmajic is expected to miss Preston’s next eight matches in all competitions.

He won’t be available for selection in the matches against Burnley, Coventry, Norwich, Plymouth Argyle, Arsenal, Bristol, Sunderland, and Portsmouth.

After the player was suspended, the Preston team took to their social media account to react to the FA suspension, saying “acknowledging the decision.”

Also, the club revealed that they won’t provide any further comment until the written reasons are published.

The Montenegro international, Osmajic, is not the first player to be punished for biting an opponent.

Inter Miami attacker Luis Suarez was suspended for 10 match in 2013 after biting former Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.
