Premier League 2023/24 season is underway with each team having played eight matches so far in the new season.

From WhoScored stats, Futballnews takes a look at the summer signings that have struggled to make an impact in their new teams.

We will be looking at the starting XI of summer signings with newly promoted Burnley dominating the team with four players.

Also, players from Bournemouth, Brentford, Aston Villa, Everton, Sheffield United, Arsenal, and Fulham also make the list.

Below are the worst summer signings in the Premier League according to ratings provided by WhoScored.

Goalkeeper – James Trafford (6.33)

Trafford joined Burnley from Premier League side Manchester City for £19million after he helped England’s U21 win European Championship.

However, he has failed to replicate that with Burnley as they have conceded more goals (22) than the team’s 20 in the Premier League this team.

The England keeper has a save success rate of 57.1% and currently ranks the lowest in the league this season.

Right back – Max Aarons – 6.28

Max Aarons, who also featured in the England’s U21 winning side, joined Bournemouth this summer in a deal worth up to £12million.

The defender has featured in each of Bournemouth’s first seven league matches before he was dropped against Arsenal which they lost 4-0.

Just like his England Under 21 keeper, he has failed to live up to expectations in the Premier League this season.

Centre back – Nathan Collins – 6.66

Brentford signed Nathan Collins from Wolves for £23million and he started seven of the Bees’ eight matches so far.

Despite playing so many games, the Republic of Ireland international has struggled to find form in these matches.

He averaged a low score performance (5.71) in a 3-1 home defeat when they faced Everton in the Premier League three weeks ago.

Centre back – Pau Torres – 6.67

Pau Torres arrived in England from Spanish side Villareal for £33million and has played all seven matches for Aston Villa.

Torres, 26, has managed to lead Unai Emery’s side to just two clean sheets in the new campaign.

However, he did perform well in the 1-0 win against Chelsea (7.13), but failed to replicate that when they lost 3-0 to Liverpool (6.15).

Left-back – Ashley Young – 6.29

Ashley Young has featured in eight matches for Everton this season since he joined from Premier League side Aston Villa as a free agent.

According to WhoScored, his worst performances came in a defeat against former side Aston Villa (5.07) and newly-promoted Luton Town (5.28).

Centre midfield – Sander Berge – 6.34

Another Burnley player on the list is Sander Berge who joined the club from Sheffield United for £15million and has not found his form.

The Norwegian has committed more fouls (seven) than he has made key passes (five) in the Premier League this season.

Centre midfield – Vinicius Souza (Sheffield United) – 6.58

Vinicius Souza joined Sheffield United from Belgian second-division side Lommel S.K. for a fee said to be worth £10million.

Ever since then, the midfielder has failed to perform well despite starting seven league games for the Blades this season.

German international Kai Havertz has failed to find his footing at Arsenal since joining from Premier League rival Chelsea for £65million this summer.

The former Blues player started in each of Arsenal’s first four league matches and subsequently lost his place in Mikel Arteta’s starting line-up.

Right wing – Luca Koleosho – 6.35

Burnley landed Luca Koleosho from Espanyol for around £3million in July but the youngster has failed to make any mark in eight matches so far.

He managed to provide an assist to Lyle Foster to score against Tottenham in September but that was just all, nothing extra.

Striker – Raul Jimenez – 6.40

Raul Jimenez completed a £5million switch from Wolves to Fulham this summer so as to replace Aleksander Mitrovic who left for Saudi Arabia.

The Mexican striker has started seven matches and has failed to find the back of the net despite playing 11 shots.

Left-wing – Zeki Amdouni – 6.69

Zeki Amdouni joined Premier League side Burnley from FC Basel for around £15million this summer but has not made an impact.

Amdouni, 22, has featured in seven matches for the Clarets and clocked a season-low 6.16 rating in a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle.
