Futballnews brings you the top ten Premier League players who massively underperformed in front of goals this season.

Despite the significant financial investments made by Premier League clubs on transfers, it is expected that there will be a plethora of exceptional goal scorers.

It is unfortunate that there are still experienced players who struggled to see the back of the net.

Here is a list of the ten players who significantly underperformed in terms of goal-scoring this season, with Chelsea’s forward Nicholas Jackson leading the pack:

Premier League’s Top 10 worst finishers thus far in 2023-2024 season.

    1. Nicolas Jackson

    Premier League worst finishers

Chelsea’s new signing Nicolas Jackson currently wears the crown for the Premier League’s least effective finisher.

According to The Sun, Nicolas Jackson, Chelsea’s £32 million signing, was expected to have scored three goals by now in the current season.

However, the Senegalese player has only managed to score one goal, which was against Luton Town.

Jackson has failed to convert six significant goal-scoring opportunities in the Blues’ first four matches this season.

    2. Ollie Watkins

The 27-year-old prolific goalscorer from England has not yet scored a goal this season.

Aston Villa star, Ollie Watkins will need to focus on improving his accuracy in front of goals in the Premier League.

    3. Enzo Fernandez

Another Chelsea’s new signing Enzo, who cost the Blues £106m, is currently ranked third and experiencing some misfires.

This season, the Argentine player has an expected goal (XG) tally of 1.4, but unfortunately, he has been unable to score a goal.

Fernandez has attempted 10 shots so far, but unfortunately, only one of them has successfully hit the target.

This particular shot was a penalty, which was skillfully saved by West Ham’s goalkeeper, Alphonse Areola.

    4. Neal Maupay

Maupay, who is currently on loan from Everton at Brentford, is currently ranked fourth on the list of underperforming Premier League players at the start of the new season.

Maupay should have scored 1.4 goals for Everton by now, considering he has taken five shots, with four of them being on target.

Brentford is hopeful that Neal Maupay will improve his aim during his season-long loan at the Gtech Community Stadium, as he has not scored any goals so far.

    5. Pedro Lomba Neto

The Portuguese winger is ranked fifth on this list.

Despite having 1.2 expected goals, the 23-year-old Wolves star is still struggling to find the back of the net and remains on this list of players without a goal.

    6. Bruno Fernandes

    Premier League

Manchester United‘s captain Bruno Fernandes is also included on the list, ranking sixth.

Bruno Fernandes, Christian Ronaldo’s Portuguese teammate, ranks sixth on this list with one goal, which is slightly below the expected 2.1 goals.

    7. Fabio Silva

Fabio Silva is another star from Wolverhampton who is listed in seventh place.

Silva, similar to Pedro Neto, has yet to score a goal despite having an expected goal of 1.

    8. Abdoulaye Doucoure

The Everton star is also named in the list, ranking eighth.

The 30-year-old Mali International midfielder has scored one goal, which is lower than the expected 1.9 goals.

    9. Mathus Cunha

Wolves manager Gary O’Neil may be facing a crucial challenges with his players as Mathus Cunha joins Pedro Neto and Fabio Silva on the list of underperforming players.

The Brazilian is currently ranked ninth, having scored one goal and having an expected goal of one.

    10. Jordan Ayew

    Premier League

Crystal Palace’s Jordan Ayew sits at the tenth spot. He has taken 12 shots in the last four games, but unfortunately, only three of them have hit the target.

Despite the Ghanaian being voted as the Eagles’ player of the month in August, the 31-year-old appears in this ridiculous list for converting three out of 12 attempts.
