Manchester United left-back, Luke Shaw, has warned doubters of the club not to be “silly” enough to write off the club as far as winning the Premier League title this season is concerned.

Manchester United have been experiencing a shaky start to the season until recently that the club started picking up massive form which has aided their way up the ladder.

From the middle of the league table, Manchester United have climbed to the 3rd spot on the league table with a game in hand. They have 13 games, one game less than first-placed Liverpool and second-placed Leicester City.

So far this season, Manchester United have recorded 8 victories, two draws, and three defeats which have earned them 26 points, 5 points behind the top spot. Once they can win their outstanding league game, they will be two points closer to the top spot. Their last Premier League match was against Leeds United which ended in a 6-2 resounding victory for coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his boys.

If Manchester United carry this form to face second-placed Leicester City on boxing day (December 26), the fight for this season’s Premier League title will become tougher for the reigning league champions Liverpool and other contenders.

“The way the Premier League is going at the moment, I think it would be silly to doubt us. I think at this moment in time, it’s anyone’s really”, Luke Shaw said ahead of Manchester United’s Carabao Cup quarter-finals match against Everton later today, December 23, at 21:00.

“The team that takes charge, goes well over the Christmas period, and wins all their games, I think have got a very good chance”, he added.

“We just need to try and get consistency in our game, because we can’t keep having one good game and dropping off and then having one bad game. There’s no way you can mount a title challenge like that so I think we need to keep consistency and see where it takes us.

“The Champions League hurt, but I think performance-wise if we get that consistency, then we’ll be in a much better place than we are already. Of course, we’ve got lots to improve on, all teams do at times, but if we can keep improving and keep that consistency, I’m sure we’ll be in a much better place.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is touted to be the first coach that will help Manchester United to win the Premier League title since the retirement of legendary coach Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.

After the era of Ferguson, the club has only managed to win one FA Cup, League Cup, and Europa League, under former managers Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho.
