The Premier League has always been competitive, and on the other hand, it has produced some of the best players in the game over the years.

There are a fair number of Premier League players who have broken records and scored a high number of goals in their first season or in a single season in all competitions, a feat that is very rare.

Below are the Premier League players with the most goals scored in a single season in all competitions:

1. Erling Haaland 

The Norwegian striker took the Premier League by storm and has already scored 30 goals in the Premier League and 11 goals in the Champions League.

In 39 matches, Haaland has scored 45 goals, and the season is not yet over.

He has been tipped to score more than 50 goals in his first season. He is currently the Premier League player with most goals scored in a single season in all competitions, breaking the record formerly held by Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

2. Ruud Van Nistelrooy 

The former Manchester United striker had his best season in 2002-03.

He scored 44 goals in 52 appearances in all competitions and was named Manchester United’s player of the season.

Nistelrooy used to be the Premier League player with most goals scored in a single season in all competitions, a record Erling Haaland broke in the 2022-2023 season.

3. Mohamed Salah

The Egyptian had his second tenure with Liverpool in the Premier League after he left AS Roma.

The winger scored 44 goals in 52 matches in the 2017-18 season. His form got him nominated for the Ballon d’Or.

In addition, the winger created 16 assists for his teammates. 

4. Cristiano Ronaldo

The Portuguese striker had his best season in 2007-08. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner scored 42 goals in 49 appearances.

In the same season, Manchester United won the Champions League and the Premier League.

He scored 31 goals in 34 appearances in the Premier League, with seven assists that same season.

5. Andy Cole

The Newcastle striker created a name for himself while playing for the Magpies in the 1993–94 season. He scored 41 goals in 45 appearances that season.

That same season, Cole created 14 assists. Because of his beautiful style of play and precision, the striker got the attention of big-name clubs in Europe.

6. Harry Kane

The English striker scored 41 goals in 48 appearances for Tottenham in 2017/18. He also created five assists for his club. In that season, he was closer to winning titles, but his goals were not enough. 

7. Thierry Henry

The French striker scored 39 goals in 51 appearances in the 2003-04 season. The World Cup winner also created 15 assists that same season.

8. Didier Drogba

The Ivorian striker was Jose Mourinho’s most destructive weapon, and apart from that fact, Drogba helped Chelsea win the Premier League title in Carlo Ancelotti’s first season as Chelsea manager.

9. Alan Shearer

In 1995–96, Shearer had one of his best seasons in the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers.

He scored 37 goals in 46 appearances for the club and also created seven assists that same season.

10. Robin Van Persie

The Dutch striker scored 37 goals in 48 appearances for Arsenal in 2011/12.

His good performances got the attention of Sir Alex Ferguson, who signed him for the next season and helped him win the Premier League.
