Due to the continued absence of the fans in the stands, the Premier League says additional non-televised fixtures in October will be made available via pay-per-view.

According to the governing body, the pay-per-view games will generate some revenue in light of no matchday income for clubs.

This is to also ensure that fans of each club can continue to watch their team live. The development is following an interim decision reached by the 20 Premier League clubs after a meeting on Friday.

The UK Government is yet to lift imposed restrictions on supporters attending matches and all games are still being played behind closed doors.

According to the new agreement, current live matches selected for TV will be shown as scheduled and broadcasted as normal while the other five matches not selected will be made available to fans on a pay-per-view basis. It will be accessed via Sky Sports and BT Sport’s existing Box Office platforms.

The governing bodies of the Englsih football have been caling for the return of fans to the stadium.

This could be seen as another way of passing the message after gathering over 103,000 signatures for the petition on the return of fans to the stands.

With the government yet to lift the restriction, the new agreement will not be reviewed.

“Football is not the same without supporters at matches.

“The Premier League and our clubs remain committed to the safe return of fans as soon as possible,” a statement read.

This means that fans will now purchase each match for £14.95/€16.95 via Sky Sports Box Office, channel 491 on the Sky box.
