Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang used to be the talisman of Arsenal football club but he is gradually becoming excess to requirement at the club due to a drop in his form.

A report by Telegraph claimed that Arsenal are ready to listen to offer from any interested club as the club’s captain continues to prove that he has passed his prime.

Recall that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang did not make the club’s squad that played the club’s opener against Brentford on August 13, 2021. In his absence, the club suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the newly-promoted Premier League club.

On August 22, 2021, coach Mikel Arteta started Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from the bench in the Premier League game against Chelsea. The 32-year-old Gabonese striker could not make an impact as the club ended the game with a 2-0 defeat.

Recall that when Aubameyang joined Arsenal on January 31, 2018, from Borussia Dortmund for a transfer fee worth €63.75 million, he was seen as the answer to the club’s drive to return to the top of the Premier League.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave a very good account of himself in his first two seasons at the club. In his first full season, he scored 29 goals, and the following season, he scored 30 goals for Arsenal.

This performance motivated Arsenal to offer him a new improved contract in September 2020. The new deal earns him about £250,000-a-week which made him the highest-paid at the club.

However, at the end of the 2020-2021 season, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s performance made the club’s board regret that they offered him such a bumper deal. The Gabon international scored just 15 goals throughout the season.

Due to the poor performance of Aubameyang and his teammates, Arsenal failed to qualify for any European competition for the first time in 20 years.

Though he is still part of coach Mikel Arteta’s plans at the Emirates Stadium, the decline in his form has forced him to be among the players who are seen as being indispensable.

Aubameyang’s contract with Arsenal will expire on June 30, 2023, but with the way his form and his relevance are dropping at the Emirates Stadium, he might not stay at the club for that long.

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s attacking midfielder, Willian is on the verge of leaving Arsenal this summer as a free agent. The 33-year-old Brazilian football star might join his childhood club, Corinthians before the transfer window closes.

    William.

Willian joined Arsenal in 2020 as a free agent after he failed to renew his contract with Chelsea. He was given a three-year deal at Arsenal which he is free to walk away from this summer.

Since he arrived at Arsenal, Willian has managed to make 37 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal within the 2020-2021 season. He managed to score just a goal.

He is currently surplus to the requirement under coach Mikel Arteta. Hence, he might exit the club back to his home country to play for Corinthians.
