A petition to ban Erling Haaland, jokingly started by a fan, has now hit over 1,800,000 signatories. The figure is expected to rise in the coming days as football fans jump on the bandwagon to express their dismay over the Norwegian’s intimidating goal stats.

Haaland online petition, which started with 32 signatories, is nearing 2 million signatories

The question of how competitive other European leagues are in relation to the Premier League is a settled debate.

An intimidating goal-scoring stats by Erling Haaland has proven critics wrong.

Nevertheless, before arriving on the conclusion of how less competitive and tough the Premier League is, it is wise to look at the team too.

Haaland’s stats may have little or nothing to do with the league, but his class, quality, and pedigree as a striker, and the quality of the team.

The 22-year-old Norwegian goal-machine has described Manchester City as the most significant sporting project, with their attacking style suitable to his career as a young striker.

Floundering in the Community Shield clash against Liverpool, including firing blank before an open net, Erling Haaland has so far proven critics wrong.

Haaland completed his third consecutive hat-trick against Man United

In just nine Premier League matches so far, Erling Haaland has scored 15 goals for Manchester City, including three straight hat-tricks in three consecutive home matches for the Citizens.

Haaland joined Foden to make history against Manchester United, as he secures his third straight hat-trick.

In total, Erling Haaland has bagged 20 goals in all games for Manchester City. He is just a few goals away from hitting the number of goals Mo Salah scored last season to secure the Premier League goal boot.

As things stand, Erling Haaland is tipped to hit a record 67 goals this season if he continues in his goal-scoring spree.

Reacting to his unprecedented and strange goal-scoring form, football fans took the popular online mobilization platform, Change.org, to jokingly call for Haaland to be banned from the Premier League due to his extraordinary goal-scoring record.

They started a petition called “Get Erling Haaland banned from Association Football because it’s just not fair.” The petition previously gathered just a hundreds signatory.

Now, as of the time of filing this report, the signatories are nearing two million, with over 1,800,000 signatories recorded.

    A summary of the petition reads;

“It’s just simply not fair, We can make a change. Now is the time for us people to act. This robot should not be allowed to carry on in our country.”

Other football fans, especially those from the UK, are more specific; they are calling for Erling Haaland to be removed from the Premier League.

The fans jokingly lamented the difficulties Erling Haaland has caused them each weekend in Premier League games.

Haaland has been prolific for Man City with 20 goals in 13 matches so far

“Erling Haaland is a serious problem,” a summary of the petition said. “He shows up out of the blue and consistently ruins the weekends of the hardworking people of this great nation. This issue must be dealt with in order to protect the mental health of millions in our society.

“To put it shortly, if things don’t change, it will only get worse. This guy is nine league goals away from equaling last season’s golden boot winner. This is disrespectful to the establishment.”

Pep Guardiola reacts to the petition against Erling Haaland

Meanwhile, Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola had joked that the petition will not go through as Erling Haaland only scored one in Manchester City’s 4-0 win over Wolves.

“I’m so upset with him – he didn’t score three goals. That’s why there’s a petition to sack him from the Premier League!” Guardiola joked in his post-match news conference.

“Expectations here are so high that people expect he’s going to score every game three or four goals. But at the end he was there to score it. He helped us again, keeping the ball and fighting and I think Erling played really well today.”

Erling Haaland’s Premier League feat is not strange. He has already scored 128 goals in 165 career matches for RB Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund, and Manchester City so far in his football career.
