Pep Guardiola has apparently been offered the opportunity to make his ‘dream’ first step into international football, with Brazil prepared to pay him £10 million per year to take over as their new manager.

The Manchester City manager has declared his desire to play in the international game on numerous occasions, with the famed Selecao being his preferred choice. Following the announcement by current manager Tite that he will step down after the World Cup in Qatar, Marca reports that the Brazilian FA has sounded out Guardiola as a possible successor.

The CBF is said to have offered the former Barcelona manager a four-year contract after commencing talks with Pep Guardiola’s brother and representative, Pere Guardiola. Guardiola’s contract with the Citizens expires in the summer of 2023, so the Selecao may have to wait until then to travel to South America.

Brazil hopes to keep Guardiola in command until at least the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The 51-year-old would also be in charge of the Copa America 2024 in Ecuador, which he mentioned when asked about the possibility of international management.

“If there’s a chance, the next stage will be a national team,” Guardiola said at the start of the season. “After seven years (at City), I need to take a break, I need to stop and watch, learn from other players, and maybe that’s the path I’ll pursue.” … I’d like to coach at the European Championships, the Copa America, and the World Cup.”

“It is a terrific national squad,” Guardiola said when asked about the legendary Brazilian team. Brazil has always been a strong contender, if not the clear favorite. It has always been and always will be.”

However, ahead of City’s match against Southampton in January, the Catalan coach claimed that he ‘doesn’t worry about’ future employment. “When I have the contract I have, I am not a guy who thinks much about the future,” Guardiola said. “I’m thinking about Southampton; I’m not good enough to think about my future too far ahead because my future is always determined by my performance.”

“That’s why I’m not worried about the future in the least.” I’m feeling safe here. I’m happy, I’m at ease, and they’ve provided me with all I need. I enjoy working with these individuals. Hopefully, they enjoy collaborating with us. That is all there is to it. Southampton, take a breather before continuing. We’ll see what happens at the end of the season.”

Tite, on the other hand, has stated unequivocally regarding his future as Brazil manager, telling SporTV, “I’m going until the end of the World Cup.” There’s no reason for me to lie here. In any case, I don’t want to win. I’ve won everything in my career; the World Cup is the only thing missing.”
