The manager of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola has invited Manchester United fans to the streets for the Premier League victory parade ahead of the club’s last game of the season.

Manchester City are currently leading the Premier League title race with just a point ahead of the second-placed Liverpool. City need to beat Aston Villa today, May 22 at 16:00 to retain the Premier League title.

While second-placed Liverpool need to beat Wolves at Anfield tonight and hope that Villa would beat City at the Etihad Stadium to overtake Guardiola’s men.

If Liverpool overtake Manchester City and win the Premier League title, and also go on to win the UEFA Champions League on May 28, they would become the first Premier League club to win four major titles in a single season.

Aside from that, if Liverpool win the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League this season, they will break Manchester United’s 1999 treble record since Jurgen Klopp and his boys have already won the FA Cup (and EFL Cup).

Some Manchester United fans who understand the history of English football and the rivalry that used to exist between Liverpool and United are secretly hoping that their fierce domestic rivals, Manchester City win the Premier League title over Liverpool.

This revelation came as a shock to coach Pep Guardiola who earlier claimed that everyone in England football wants Liverpool to win the Premier League over City.

While showing how stunned he was to discover that some Manchester United fans want City to win the Premier League title, coach Pep Guardiola invited the fans to party with City if the Citizens win the league.

The Spanish coach, however, added a condition to it which was that the Manchester United fans that would want to party with City when they win the league, should wear blue shirts which is the symbol of City.

When Guardiola learned from reporters that some United fans want City to win the Premier League title this season, the stunned coach said: “Are you sure? Yeah? So United likes City more than Liverpool? Oh my God, I didn’t know it. Is it true?

“So I was wrong when I say everyone wants Liverpool to win the title in this country! I was wrong. Yeah, welcome (United fans). Welcome. If they want to join us in the street. But they have to wear a blue shirt, yeah. They have to wear it!”

While clarifying his earlier comment that everyone wants Liverpool to win the Premier League, Pep Guardiola added: “I’m sure my English isn’t good after four, five years. I said in the time you arrive at the titles, the teams with more history have more supporters.

“It happens in Spain and Germany and Italy. We are outsiders in the last decade. At that moment, of course, people don’t want Liverpool or us to win. Liverpool fans want to win, I’m not saying all the country are Liverpool fans but in general they are a team with more titles.

“Maybe I’m wrong, but in countries all around the world there are two, there teams people support more than the other ones. Liverpool, United, and Arsenal have a lot of history, we are now, how many times have we arrived in this history? Brighton, Paul Dickov, I don’t think so. It’s not much. It’s why we feel it’s a privilege and won’t waste this opportunity to enjoy the 95 minutes.”

The 2021-2022 season could mark the first time Pep Guardiola won a Premier League title in front of City's home fans:

Since Pep Guardiola became the coach of Manchester City in 2016, he has helped the club to win three Premier League titles. Unfortunately, he has never enjoyed the opportunity of playing the last game of a league-winning season at the Etihad Stadium.

But in the 2021-2022 season, Guardiola could land his fourth Premier League title for Manchester City in front of the club’s fans at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday after defeating Aston Villa.

“It’s good, I would prefer winning two days ago,” Guardiola noted. “It is what it is, important is being there, a chance to win a game to be champions. So nice, a privilege to arrive at this stage.”
