Liverpool surrendered points in a 1-1 draw with Tottenham the day before City’s 5-0 win against Newcastle.

Guardiola’s squad, on the other hand, fell in the Champions League semi-finals in midweek, while Liverpool advanced to the final.

“Everyone in this nation, even the media, supports Liverpool,” Guardiola told beIN Sports.

“Of course, Liverpool has a long and illustrious history in European competition. It isn’t a problem in the Premier League since they haven’t won one in 30 years, but it isn’t a problem anywhere else.”

Guardiola’s side will go to Wolves on Wednesday in the hopes of winning their fourth Premier League title in five years, with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool taking the trophy in 2019-20. They will next travel to West Ham and end at home against Aston Villa.

“Liverpool and [Manchester] United are the most important teams in terms of titles, legacy, history, and dramas for many, many reasons,” Pep Guardiola remarked.

“But we’ve been there for the past 11 or 12 years. I understand that we are occasionally uneasy, but I don’t mind if the public prefers Liverpool to win over us. It is not a problem.”

He continued, ” “We need nine points or possibly six, depending on how the next two games go in terms of goal differential, but Wednesday is the real, real, real final for us. Our fate is in our hands, which is crucial.”

City defenders to miss the remainder of the season

Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias, and John Stones will all miss the rest of the season due to injuries, according to Guardiola.

Dias was forced off during City’s win against Newcastle, while Stones and Walker were both absent, and Guardiola has stated that they will not be involved in the team’s Premier League championship defense.

He stated, “Ruben, Kyle, and John are out until the conclusion of the season.”

“It is not an issue in this circumstance. It is not an issue if Rodri or someone from the academy has to play in this position.”
