    Pele’s mother, Celeste, is unaware that her son, the legendary soccer player, has passed away, according to his sister Maria.

    Pele’s sister, Maria Lucia do Nascimento cares for Celeste, who recently turned 100-year-old and has not been informed about her son’s passing.

    The matriarch of Pele’s family has not yet been informed that her famed footballer son lost his battle with colon cancer.

    Maria stated in a local program that although they speak, she is unaware of the circumstances. She is immersed in her universe.

    She continued, “She opens her eyes when I mention his name and say, “We’re going to pray for him,” but she is unaware of what I’m saying.” The three-time World Cup champion is known by his family as Dico, a nickname he was given as a youngster.

    In September 2021, Pelé had a colon tumor removed. Whether the disease had spread to other organs has not been disclosed by either his family or the hospital.

    On December 28, Pele passed away at the age of 82 at Sao Paolo’s Albert Einstein Hospital due to multiple organ failures brought on by his protracted struggle with colon cancer.

    Last month, Pele’s mother celebrated her 100th birthday, and her son captured the scene on Instagram.

    Along with a picture of himself cuddling up to his beloved mother, he added, “Today we celebrate Celeste’s 100 years of life. She instilled in me the value of love and peace from a young age.

    “I am grateful to be her son for well over a hundred reasons.

    “With much emotion, I offer these pictures to you to commemorate this day. I appreciate you being by your side every day, mom.”

    With 77 goals in his career, Pelé continues to rank among Brazil’s all-time leading scorers. Pelé guided Brazil to World Cup victories in 1958, 1962, and 1970. During the World Cup in Qatar this year, Neymar tied Pelé’s goalscoring record.

    After it was revealed that Pele had died, Neymar wrote an emotional farewell message to the legend. Before Pele entered the footballing world, where he earned a plethora of prestigious awards, the Paris Saint-Germain legend referred to the fabled No. 10 as just a “number.”

    After three days of formal mourning, Pele’s will be laid to rest in a 14-story cemetery in the heart of Santos, where he spent the majority of his club football career.

    The public will have the opportunity to pay their respects to him as his remains are transported from the hospital where he passed away to the Vila Belmiro Stadium in Santos.

    According to local media, it will stay on the center circle for 24 hours before being taken through the streets of his hometown so that he might momentarily halt outside the home of his bedridden mother.

    The Memorial Necropole Ecumenica, the tallest cemetery in the world according to Guinness World Records, will subsequently be used to transport him to his ultimate resting place.
