Last Night, Kely shared a picture of her family holding Pele’s hand while he was lying in a hospital bed on Instagram.

After being admitted at the end of November, he has been receiving care at the Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital in Sao Paulo.

She posted:  “Everything we are is thanks to you. We love you infinitely. Rest in peace.”

Kely added three heartbroken emojis after posting before Christmas that Pele’s family would spend the holiday season with him in the hospital.

In an emotive message from yesterday, she expressed her family’s “sadness and despair.”

She shared a photo of herself with Octavio Felinto Neto and Gabriel Arantes, the grandkids of Pele and her sister Flavia.

Kelli stated: “These moments are hard to explain. Sometimes there is a lot of sadness and despair, other times we laugh and talk of fun memories.”

“And what we learn most from all this is that we have to look for each other, and hold tight. Only when it’s all worth it. With it all together.”

On Boxing Day, Kely praised the hospital staff for “doing all they can.”

She continued: “To see our dad being treated by these care professionals, super competent and extremely caring.”

“Not a moment goes by that we forget this privilege. Even in sadness we can only be thankful.”

Pele, known as The King, was the only player in football history to win three World Cups with Brazil between 1958 and 1970.

A Guinness World Record has been established for his incredible total of 1,279 goals in 1,363 games, which included friendly.

He set a record by scoring 77 goals in 92 games for the national team, which Neymar recently tied at the World Cup.

Pele made a big entrance to the football world at a young age.

At the young age of 15, he made his professional debut with Santos, his hometown team. At the age of 16, he earned his first cap for Brazil.

When he was barely 17 years old, he won the World Cup. He later repeated the feat in 1962 and 1970.

Over the course of his 18-year career, the South American legend scored 643 goals in 659 games for team Santos.

In 1977, during an exhibition game between the Cosmos and Santos, he ended his football career at the New York Cosmos.

He was appointed a UN ambassador for ecology and the environment in 1992, following his playing career.

He was then appointed by president Fernando Henrique Cardoso as Brazil’s Extraordinary Minister for Sport three years later.

He was the focus of a popular Netflix series that followed his life from poverty as a boy to winning the 1970 World Cup.

Six children and his third wife Marcia Aoki are left behind by Pele.
