South Korea head coach Paulo Bento resigns after Brazil’s 4-1 humiliating defeat on Monday, December 5.

The 53-year-old Paulo Bento quits after getting thrashed by Brazil in the last 16 of the Qatar World Cup tournament.

Following Monday’s last-16 clash at Stadium 974 in Doha, Qatar, the Brazilians unraveled a huge banner of the all-time legendary striker Pele and dedicated their victory to him.

Vinicius Junior opened the scoresheet for Brazil after converting a fine assist from Neymar who just returned from a ligament injury.

Thereafter, PSG superstar Neymar fired in the second goal for Brazil before Richarlison and Lucas Paqueta sealed the victory.

Brazil knocked South Korea out of the World Cup race

The former South Korea manager Paulo Bento becomes the third coach to quit his job at the Qatar World Cup following Roberto Martinez’s resignation as Belgium boss.

Bento managed to lead South Korea to the last 16 after dramatically beating Ronaldo’s Portugal in their final group match.

However, South Korea couldn’t replicate the shocking feat meted against Portugal and was blown away by the giant Brazilian team with the aftermath thrusting Bento’s resignation.

The 53-year-old Portuguese manager Paulo Bento has been in charge of the South Korea national team since 2018 and out of 57 matches he played when he was in charge, he won 35.

Having spent four years in charge of the Taegeuk Warriors, and while he has masterminded some progress, the South Korean republic still sees Benito’s 2019 Asian Cup quarter-final loss to Qatar as a disappointing failure.

While bemoaning the elimination from the World Cup and announcing his disengagement, a spokesperson from the South Korean federation reportedly interfered during the press conference to deny Bento’s resignation.

The spokesman claimed the Portuguese coach was just taking a rest and considering his future, but he admitted that Bento has left his role.

Bento revealed that his decision to leave after this winter’s tournament was made a while ago and his decision remains undeniable.

Bento, after the match, said: “I have just announced to the players and the president of the federation that this is a decision I took in September.”

“It is set in stone and I have confirmed it. I have to thank everyone for everything they have done.

“From now onwards we have to think about the future. I’m going to rest and we have to see what will happen after I rest.”

While South Korea heads to Qatar Airport, their desecrator, Brazil remains in the competition, loaded with more damages as they await their next match.
