Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba wants to earn more than Cristiano Ronaldo at the Premier League side according to reports in France.

The 28-year-old French midfielder is reportedly looking at earning over £480,000-a-week which is the current salary of Cristiano Ronaldo who returned to Manchester United in August 2021.

Recall that Ronaldo who played for Manchester United between 2003 and 2009 left the Red Devils for Real Madrid and then Juventus before he return to Old Trafford. He is expected to stay at the club until June 30, 2023.

The £480,000-a-week the 36-year-old Portuguese football icon reportedly earns at United makes him the highest-paid player in the Premier League.

As for Paul Pogba, the France international has been around Manchester United for a long time. He was with Manchester United youth team between 2009 and 2011. He spent the 2011-2012 season in United’s reserve team.

When he could not break into Manchester United’s first team, he waited until the expiration of his contract with United before he left for Juventus on August 3, 2012.

To the dismay of Manchester United, Paul Pogba improved his game so well at Juventus that the Premier League side decided to bring him back to Old Trafford.

United got so desperate for Pogba’s services that the club was ready to pay anything for him. Despite how important he was to Juventus, the Italian Serie A club decided not to miss out on the lucrative deal.

Hence, Manchester United paid Juventus a whopping €105 million to bring Pogba back to Old Trafford on August 9, 2016.

The deal the Frenchman signed with Manchester United then has been earning him £290,000 a week. But the Frenchman wants the salary to be almost doubled.

Unfortunately for Manchester United, Paul Pogba’s contract with the Red Devils will expire on June 30, 2022. This means that the Premier League side don’t longer have enough time to keep trying to convince him to lower his demands.

If Pogba fails to extend his contract with the Red Devils before next summer, the Frenchman will be free to join any club of his choice on a free transfer.

Two clubs seem to be consistently interested in his services – Real Madrid which happens to be his dream club, and his former club, Juventus. But those two clubs might not be willing to pay him the kind of money he is asking Manchester United to pay him.

Amid the transfer saga, there are speculations that Paris Saint Germain are also interested in the services of the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.

However, a French publication, L’Equipe, reported that Pogba is determined to continue to play for Manchester United if the Premier League club meet up with his demands.

So far this season, Pogba who is currently out with a right thigh injury, has played 13 times for Manchester United in all competitions and has provided 7 assists.
